Homebrew Warforged Dragonborn Species Details

Warforged Dragonborn are uncommon due to the complexity behind making a more draconic being and the possible disrespect that could be claimed towards making such a creation. Once brought into the world they face a long period of time to adapt to their strange body seeing as most parts used are only in their early stages of development leading to many malfunctioning subjects.

Due to the nature of their creation they tend to be kept as beasts of burden or guards that can be set upon a target or brought to heel, too difficult a command can lead to confusion with the creations processing systems. Its chosen to not grant these warforged any further intellect or freedom due to their destructive abilities.

Warforged Dragonborn Traits

As a Warforged Dragonborn, you have these special traits.

You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:

  • You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
  • You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You are immune to disease.
  • You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Draconic Ancestry Gem

Your lineage stems from a dragon progenitor. Choose the kind of dragon from the Draconic Ancestors table. Your choice affects your Breath Weapon and Damage Resistance traits as well as your appearance.

Breath Weapon

When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of magical energy in either a 15-foot Cone or a 30-foot Line that is 5 feet wide (choose the shape each time). Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 plus your Constitution modifier and Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, a creature takes 1d10 damage of the type determined by your Draconic Ancestry trait. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage. This damage increases by 1d10 when you reach character levels 5 (2d10), 11 (3d10), and 17 (4d10).

You can use this Breath Weapon a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Darkvision

You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

Sentry’s Rest

When you take a long rest, you must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.

Integrated Protection

Your body is thick with plating granting protection but making it impossible to wear more.

  • Your armour class is 14+ your Dex modifier
  • You cannot equipped any type of body armour that would affect your AC (Bracers / Cloaks do not count).
  • You have disadvantage to all Stealth Checks.
