Homebrew Cephalopoid Species Details

Cephalopoids are distantly related to the many tentacled creatures of the sea. They are able to live on land or in the water at the same time. Cephalopoids are quite intelligent and are capable of building advanced societies, but their curiosity for adventure and timid nature lead most cephalopoids to explore rather than build strong communities.

From a distance, a cephalopoid appears to have a standard humanoid body plan: two arms, two legs, and a head. A closer look reveals a head with minor small tentacles that are semi-vestigial, an invertebrate body, and tentacles that can act as multiple appendages. Cephalopoids vary widely in size, ranging between 3 to 7 feet tall and 20 to 350 pounds in their weight. Ceohalopoids live for about 30 years, reaching maturity at age 3 living similarly to Aarakocras. Their coloring varies even more than their size. Cephalopoid skin can be any color and appear to have any texture, from rough and sandy to smooth and slippery. Many are able to change the appearance of their skin. Many live in the oceans, although they can walk on land. When they do walk on land it is speculated to be a bad omen of disasters to whoever interacts with them. Although all of these have been coincidences, it never changed the people’s minds, so they are treated harshly most of the time.
