Homebrew Calardian Drake Species Details
Calardian drakes are a species of drakes who have evolved high intelligence and the ability to stand on two legs. They are bulky, scaled, wingless dragons who mostly engage in quadrupedal locomotion, although they are able to walk uncomfortably on two legs and manipulate tools with their forelimbs. When standing upright Calardian drakes range from about 6 and a half to 7 and a half feet tall, though some can be as tall as 8 feet. Due to their bulky body and thick scales, calardian drakes weigh upwards of 300 to 450 pounds.
Originally calardian drakes come from the cold frigid north, and are naturally adapted to cold environments. Their large bodies and thick hides are excellent at preserving heat and protecting them from harsh winds, and the greyish white scale coloration helps camouflage them to a snowy landscape. Some calardian drakes are however born with red or yellow scales, a rare thing which is often interpreted as a sign of that particular individual being blessed, or cursed, by the gods.
