Dragonfly People

Ani are characterized by a pair of large, multifaceted, compound eyes, and two pairs of transparent, iridescent wings. They have glassy, colorful skin usually pink, green, yellow, or blue, sometimes with brown or colorful patches. Their hair is usually the same color as their skin or black. They can sometimes have small antennae under their nose or on their forehead.

Short-lived

Their lifecycles are extremely similar to dragonflies. Ani are born from eggs that were deposited by adult Ani in a fresh body of water. They are born with gills to survive under the water where they usually* live for the first year of their life before growing wings that slowly harden, and lungs, and emerging to live the rest of their lives on the surface.

Ani live the rest of their thirty to forty years on land before returning to their home lake to lay and/or fertilize eggs before they pass away. They also have the means to reproduce with humans.

Subrace

*Some Ani's wings never harden, and they never lose their gills. These Ani are known at Nymph Ani, and they are amphibious.
