Homebrew Weaglinian Species Details

The Forest Keepers – The Weagles
Hidden deep in a vast, untouched forest, the Weagles live among towering trees and thick canopies. They aren’t visitors here. This is their home, and they treat it with the care and respect a God deserves. Everything they do is about balance, taking only what they need and giving back whenever they can, however they can.

Fur and Feather
At first glance, a Weagle might look like just another forest animal, blending in with the shadows and foliage.Mundane. But if you look closer, you’ll notice. Their fur, so fine it almost looks like feathers, giving them a sleek, almost avian appearance. Their sharp eyes are always alert, aware of everything around them. They usually stand between 5'7 and 6'0, moving with a quiet grace, every step light and deliberately avoiding disturbing the world around them.
Weagles are naturally reserved, especially with outsiders. Among their own, they communicate with ease using subtle gestures, quiet sounds and sometimes loud dramatic movements if the mood strikes them. But when faced with those from beyond the forest, they struggle to communicate, not due to a lack of want, they just don’t always know how to connect, making them seem distant even when they’re curious.

The Forest Guardians
Weagles never take more than they need, and to them, waste simply doesn’t exist. Everything they gather is either used or given back to the forest. Their homes aren’t just shelters of propped up wood with wattle and daub. They’re living extensions of nature itself, woven from vines and branches to create entire villages nestled between the trees. Blending seamlessly into the landscape, these homes reflect their way of life simple, efficient, and deeply connected to the forest, creating its own delicate and balanced ecosystem
Hygiene is a big deal for Weagles. They constantly clean their fur and feathers, not just for comfort but for survival. A well groomed coat keeps them warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. It also helps prevent disease and lets them move through the forest without making a sound. Strong smells, whether pleasant or awful, make them uncomfortable, so they avoid anything too overpowering.

A Life of Purpose
For Weagles, everything in life has meaning. They don’t believe in hoarding or claiming things just for the sake of it. The forest isn’t theirs to own, but it is their home, and they protect it fiercely. Even in death, they remain a part of it. Their bodies nourish the soil, feeding the roots of the trees that once sheltered them.
They aren’t the type to go looking for adventure, and most of them prefer to stay within the safety of their world. It takes something truly important to pull a Weagle away from home, maybe a threat to the balance of nature or a calling too strong to ignore.
To those unfamiliar with them, Weagles might seem quiet or even a little mysterious. But anyone who takes the time to understand them will find thoughtful, kind hearted beings who want nothing more than to live in harmony with the world around them.

Weagle Culture and Daily Life
They are highly communal creatures, valuing cooperation over personal gain. Decisions are made collectively, often discussed around central gathering spaces interwoven with bioluminescent moss that glows softly at night. While they are reserved with outsiders, among themselves they are warm and expressive, speaking in a melodic language laced with subtle body movements. A slight tilt of the head, a shift of their arms, or the flick of an ear can completely change the meaning of a sentence.

The Role of Wings in Weagle Culture
Though Weagles lost the ability to fly generations ago, their wings remain an important part of their identity. Once powerful instruments of flight, their wings have evolved into striking, expressive displays used in courtship. The soft feathers covering them have taken on a rich variety of colors and patterns unique to each Weagle, often influenced by diet and age.
During mating rituals, Weagles use their wings to attract potential partners, fanning them out to show off the subtle iridescence of their fur-feathers. Mates will mirror each other’s movements in a quiet, graceful dance, raising and lowering their wings in a slow rhythm. Strength and symmetry are seen as highly desirable traits, and a well-groomed, well-maintained set of wings is a sign of good health and strong lineage.
Beyond courtship, wings play a role in daily expression. A sudden flick might indicate irritation, while a slow, deliberate stretch can be a sign of relaxation. Young Weagles, still learning how to communicate, often exaggerate these movements, making them more expressive than their elders.

Weaglinian Traits

Very short flight, Sharp Talons, with good speed are the core elements that give Weagles the ability to survive in the deep forest.

Sharp Fangs

Though not often used as weapons Weagles posses sharp K9 teeth able to cause strong piercing damage to anything unfortunate enough to be in its mouth.

This strike does 4d4 Piercing damage.

Due to the nature of the Weagles mouth this is not advised and can cause permanent damage to the user. Take 1D6 of damage.

If a 6 is rolled(Max of 4) the Weagle loses a K9 tooth, lowering the amount of damage done by 1d4
