Vulpine
"WOULD YOU KILL ME?"
The words floated across the clearing, playful and confident, as the young girl eyed my drawn arrow. Her eyes danced in the soft blue glow of the floating lights that lingered on the edge of the tree line. She smiled at me, her grin stretching wider and fiercer as her eyes narrowed to a cunning gaze. One by one the lights blinked out, and in a moment, she was gone.

Once thought to be myth, vulpine are a secretive race. Rarely seen, vulpine tend to stay within their communities deep in the forests. They have an affinity towards nature, magic, and mischief - a trait shared with their fey heritage.
Foxkin
Commonly referred to as foxfolk, vulpine are share many features with their namesakes. Slender and agile, vulpine stand between 3 feet tall and just over 4 feet and weight between 30 and 45 pounds. While most possess the characteristic red coat, some clans can be found with black or light grey.
One of the Clan
Vulpine associate almost exclusively with others of their clan. While they follow a strict hierarchy and order within their community, mischief aside, other clans and outsiders are commonly viewed as competition. This being the case, Vulpine found venturing beyond their community often prefer to work alone, going as far as stealing and taking advantage of others.
Names
Vulpine consider names to be a defining trait of its owner. Many, over time, will take on several names. These names can be varied and eclectic. Gender is typically not considered when choosing a name. Names given at birth, and sometimes later in life, are typically centered around nature or events surrounding their birth. One notable exception is when a clan member is exiled, they are considered nameless by their former clan.

Out in the World
Vulpine typically are not found alone. If one is found without its clan it has either been exiled or sent on some sort of task. Regardless, vulpine are fiercely loyal to any allies it gains along its journey.

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age
A Vulpine reaches adulthood at the age of 5 and generally lives until their mid-50s.
Alignment
Vulpine tend towards chaotic alignments and typically meet outsiders with neutral indifference.
Size
Vulpine are between 3 and just over 4 feet tall and average 35 pounds. Your size is Small.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Darkvision
Accustomed to dense forests and hunting at night, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Skill Versatility
You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.
Uncanny Agility
Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
Born of the Wild
You can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, and other natural phenomena.
Arctic Variant
Nomadic and elusive, arctic vulpine are easily recognized by their white coats and heartier builds.
Clans of the North
You are acclimated to the ice plains of the northern isles and are not hindered by non-magical icy terrain. You’re also naturally adapted to cold climates, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide.
Fox’s Cunning
You have advantage on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic.
Ability Score Inrease
Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Fey-Touched Variant
Occasionally a vulpine will be born with fur that glitters with a gold sheen in the sunlight and red eyes. Considered an omen of misfortune by some clans and a sign of favor by others, fey-touched vulpine are the product of the fey ancestry of the vulpine race. In many clans, fey-touched are ostracized or even excited as nameless.
In addition to their unique appearance, fey-touched live for centuries. Notably, they gain an additional tail with each century they age. This continues until their ninth tail. At this point, they gain the ability to control the number of tails visible.
Fey Mind
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

A vulpine reaches adulthood at the age of 5. Fey-touch often live for over 1000 years
Fey Touched
You know the dancing lights cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the disguise self spell a number of times equal to your charisma modifier; the number of uses resets after a long rest. Once you reach 5th level, you can also cast the invisibility spell; you must finish a long rest in order to cast the spell again using this trait. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores all increase by 1.
