Homebrew After Life Species Details
After Life
“In death, you were chosen. In rebirth, you walk the path between worlds.”
Created by Kelemvor, god of death, After Lifes are fallen warriors given a second existence. Chosen during funerals that honor both beauty and sacrifice, their bodies are transformed—drained of blood and reshaped with brambles and flowers that mark their divine rebirth. Though they retain echoes of their past selves, they are forever changed, standing between the living and the dead.
After Life Traits
As an After Life, you have the following traits.
Creature Type. You are a Humanoid. However, for the purposes of divination spells and effects, you are also considered an Undead.
Size. You are Medium.
Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.
Death’s Veil. You have darkvision with a range of 60 feet, and you can see through magical darkness as if it were dim light.
Misty Step of the Grave. You can slip between the veil of life and death. A number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus, you can cast the Misty Step spell without expending a spell slot. When you do, a lingering shadow remains—upon reappearing, the Darkness spell is cast centered on the space you left. This Darkness lasts until the end of your next turn and does not require concentration
Floral Regrowth. Once per short rest, you can use a bonus action to heal yourself or a creature within 15 feet of you. The creature regains hit points equal to 1d8 + your proficiency bonus. When you use this ability, flowers or brambles briefly bloom on your skin before withering away.
Funeral Blessing. Attuned to the veil between life and death, you have advantage on Medicine checks, and you can sense when a creature within 100 feet of you has 10 hit points, even if they are hidden from sight.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
