Homebrew Aetherian Species Details

Found throughout the multiverse, humans are as varied as they are numerous, and they endeavor to achieve as much as they can in the years they are given. Their ambition and resourcefulness are commended, respected, and feared on many worlds.

Aetherians are a race of towering, physically superior beings, built for dominance in both battle and leadership. With unmatched strength, speed, and endurance, they are natural warriors, commanders, and rulers. Their bodies are the pinnacle of human-like evolution—honed for combat, strategy, and survival. Aetherians believe in power above all else, respecting those who prove their strength, whether through combat prowess, tactical brilliance, or sheer force of will.

Physical Traits

Aetherians resemble humans but are larger, stronger, and faster, standing between 5 to 10 feet tall with dense muscle structures that grant them immense physical power. Their features are sharp and commanding, their eyes intense and piercing. Their skin tones range from deep bronze to pale stone, often marked with scars from battle. Unlike other superhuman species, Aetherians have no mystical abilities—every ounce of their power is purely biological, the result of generations of selective breeding and survival of the fittest.

Society & Culture

Aetherian society is built on strength, discipline, and hierarchy. They are not mindless brutes—strategy and leadership are as valuable as raw power. Those who prove themselves in battle or command rise through the ranks, while the weak are cast aside. Aetherians respect power in all its forms but rarely follow orders from those they perceive as weaker. To them, war is not just a necessity—it is a test of one’s worth, a proving ground where the strong thrive and the unworthy fall.

While many Aetherians become warlords, champions, or rulers, others take on roles as elite soldiers, bodyguards, or mercenaries. Regardless of their station, they carry themselves with undeniable authority, expecting obedience and respect wherever they go.

Aetherians are purely physical powerhouses—no magic, no supernatural abilities, just sheer strength, speed, and endurance. Their advantages make them ideal warriors and leaders, but their arrogance, relentless drive, and unwillingness to follow weaker leaders create roleplaying and mechanical challenges that keep them from being overpowered

As a Aetherian, you have these special traits.

Blood-Fueled Fury

Your body thrives in the throes of battle, growing stronger as your vitality wanes. For every quarter (25%) of your total hit points you have missing, you gain a +1 bonus to Strength (to a maximum of 24) and your movement speed doubles.

Effects:

•When you are above 75% of your total HP, you have no additional benefits.

•When you are between 50% and 74% HP, you gain +1 Strength, and your movement speed is doubled.

•When you are between 25% and 49% HP, you gain +2 Strength, and your movement speed is doubled.

•When you are below 25% HP, you gain +3 Strength, and your movement speed is doubled.

Restrictions & Interactions:

•This trait does not stack with magical or class-based increases to Strength that exceed the normal ability score cap of 24.

•If you receive healing that moves you into a higher HP threshold, you lose the corresponding Strength bonus.

•The speed-doubling effect applies only to your base movement speed and does not stack with effects such as Haste but does stack onto itself.

•If your Strength modifier changes as a result of this trait, adjust your attack and damage rolls accordingly.

Flavor:

Your species has evolved to fight harder when wounded, drawing power from adversity. Whether through heightened adrenaline, a supernatural berserker instinct, or an innate magical force within your blood, your might increases as your survival hangs in the balance. Warriors of your kind are known for their reckless endurance and explosive speed, striking with terrifying strength as they teeter on the brink of death.
