Homebrew Ankheg Heir Species Details

Heirs of the Ankheg – Devourers of the Deep

Tales speak of those who carry the ancient might of the Ankheg in their very blood. Their bodies harden, their hunger grows insatiable, and the earth itself becomes their domain. Neither wholly of flesh nor fully of stone, the Heirs of the Ankheg carve their own path beneath the surface of the world.

Physical Description

At birth, Heirs of the Ankheg resemble ordinary humanoids, though their skin possesses a faintly chitinous texture and they instinctively crave the sensation of burrowing into soft earth. As they mature, these traits become more pronounced: their muscles thicken, their limbs strengthen, and their jaws shift into something more predatory. Their hardened skin develops into a durable carapace, their fingers sharpen into powerful claws, and eventually, they become capable of tunneling through the very ground as if it were water.

Society and Culture

Driven by instinct, Heirs of the Ankheg are often guided by their relentless hunger and a deep connection to the underground world. Some seek to integrate into society, striving to suppress their primal urges, while others embrace solitude, burrowing deep into the earth’s embrace. Their affinity for tunnels, caves, and subterranean networks often leads them to a profound respect for nature and the living rock that shelters them. They may be revered as mystics, feared as monsters, or seen as eccentric wanderers who never stay in one place for too long.

Ankheg Heir Traits

The Heirs of the Ankheg are a unique blend of humanoid resilience and monstrous adaptability. Their bodies evolve over time, granting them natural armor, acidic abilities, and an innate connection to the subterranean world. As they grow stronger, they become masters of the underground, capable of burrowing through stone and launching deadly acid attacks. Their monstrous heritage gives them great power, but it also sets them apart from ordinary society.
