The Boneglaze are a species formed when a sentient slime fuses with a skeleton, trapping the remains of a once-living creature inside a gelatinous prison. Unlike creatures born from a natural symbiosis, the Boneglaze are the result of a cursed or twisted event, a fusion of life and death that binds the bones of the dead with the ooze of the living. The result is an unsettling hybrid of skeletal structure and amorphous slime, with a haunting presence that speaks of torment and transformation.

A Boneglaze begins its existence when a powerful, sentient slime—often drawn by the scent of decay or the remnants of a magical aura—finds a fallen skeleton, usually from a warrior, traveler, or magical being. Rather than simply feeding on the bones, the slime fuses with them, surrounding and encasing the skeleton's form, trapping it inside its shifting, translucent body. The slime’s viscous, gel-like substance seeps into the joints, filling the hollow spaces of the ribcage, skull, and limbs, creating an eerie hybrid of bones and ooze.
