Homebrew Borg Species Details

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."

 

The Borg are a civilization of millions of technologically-altered beings, both artificial and biological. Their connections to the "Collective," a telepathic link to all other Borg, are incredibly strong. Borg regard individuality as a flaw and consider themselves better than other, more individual life-forms.

Collective Minds

The Borg society is based entirely on their Borg Collective. They are kidnapped, often as young children, and "assimilated" into Borg culture, with nanoprobes and technological implants. They are then connected into the Collective, and can communicate telepathically with all other Borg.

Unless their connection to the Collective is severed, Borg always refer to themselves as "we" instead of "I," "our" instead of "my," and other plural pronouns in replace of singular pronouns.

 

Borg Designations

Borg are assigned numeral designations based on the amount of drones in their unit and the number which they represent. They are often something along the lines of "Four of Six" or "First of Eight."

Borg Designations: Five of Six, Eight of Ten, Seven of Nine, Third of Five, Second of Three, Five of Seven, Seventh of Ten.

 

Borg Traits

Your Borg character has the following traits.

Borg Assimilation

As a Borg, you can understand all languages but not speak them. You gain proficiency in one tool of your choice.

Collective

You have an intense connection to the Collective. You gain proficiency in Perception and Intimidation if you do not already have them, and you can call upon the Collective to reveal non-important information (at the DM's discretion).

Energy Weapon

Your arm contains an energy weapon which can be fired five times per day, dealing 1d4 lightning damage plus an additional 2 force damage. However, you lose the use of one arm.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2.

Age

Borg designate age based on how recently the body was assimilated. In assimilated humans, this is usually below 20 years, but can be higher in other assimilated races.

Alignment

Borg are incredibly orderly, and almost always lawful while still connected to the Collective. They lean mainly towards evil alignments, and thus most Borg are considered Lawful Evil.

Size

Your size is Medium. Borg's sizes are determined by the race they were before they were assimilated into the Collective.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common.
