Homebrew Chamec Species Details

 

The Chamec are shy, and often peaceful folk. They live together in tribes and see out dark areas to live, whether this be heavily forested areas or large caves. It is very rare to see a Chamec in the daylight, or just out and about in general. While they are known to be very polite and gentle, one would be a fool if they were to think that Chamecs are anything but fearsome warriors. They are able to exhaust opponents very easily with their high endurance and incredible agility, though they tend to not be the strongest creatures. While Chamecs are often able to be trusted, there are few that use this trust to their advantage to carry out vile misdoings.

Appearance

Chamecs are amongst one of the most diverse races to exist. They have a humanoid stature, rivaling them in height, being anywhere from 5-7 feet tall. They have long, pointed ears and large eyes that are almost exclusively yellow, amber, or orange. Their hair is very dark with a silk-like texture. Their skin is much like a human’s in texture, though it differs greatly in color and is covered very distinct markings and stripes. These markings are often boldly outlined with black and can vary in almost any color, though the most common are shades of pink, red, or turquoise, while the most common colors of their base are shades of green, blue, and purple. Chamec’s use their markings to attract mates and are often revered by tribes to tell the bearer’s life story, shamen of the tribes are said to be able to read other’s markings which is often a ritual performed at the age of 5. Though, these markings are for more than just for show. They resonate a magical aura which allows the bearer and his/her clothing to become semi-invisible. As a by-product of the magic, the markings are able to glow, and inexplicably, the eyes as well. On occasion, Chamecs might also have small, spike-like protrusions on their forearms, backs, or lower legs. These structures are considered vestigial and have no known use. Another odd distinction is that rather than the usual five fingers per hand, Chamecs have 4, lacking the pinky fingers.

Chamecs can be very distinct from one another, but all share some baseline racial traits.

Magical Markings

You have markings that cover your body and resonate magic. They allow you to perform the Chamec Camouflage cantrip. They are also able to emit a dim, bioluminescent light.

Ability Score Modifiers

Your dexterity modifier is increased by 2 and your charisma modifier is increased by 1 but your strength modifier is decreased by 1.

Age

Chamecs mature at the same rate as humans but may live up to 260 years.

Alignment

Chamecs are usually peaceful and trustworthy, though there are few that have followed evil paths. By nature though, Chamecs almost always have a Lawful alignment.

Size

Chamecs are anywhere from 5 to 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

As Chamecs live most of their lives in the dark, they have developed the ability to see better in such conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.
