Homebrew Cryotus Species Details

A dark scaled humanoid with crystals that spike out of its back, shoulders, knees, and fists. These crystals are blue and assist in climbing, the crystals also produce a freezing cold. The eyes of a cryotus are usually blue or purple. Most cryotus do not have noses, and cannot smell. If a cryotus’s crystal touches a surface then the cryotus may gain tremor vision with a radius equal to its age. Cryotus are incapable of feeling vengeful and also tend to be quite tranquil. Cryotus act in a hive, these hives can contain several thousand cryotus. There is no leader of cryotus in most hives, rather they act as they must to keep the majority alive, this can translate to make many cryotus have a hard time understanding selfishness, as they are simply incapable of doing such. Cryotus do tend to battle with enemies that may restrict a resource. In battle cryotus use stabbing weapons, like spears and javelins that remind them of their crystals. they can also stab with their crystals, this adds 2 damage to unarmed strikes.

Cryotus are by nature, freezing creatures. With their spikes producing such a profound cold, it can freeze water in minutes, this means they are adapted and immune to cold damage.

Crystalline Weapon

The crystals on a cryotus; mainly the ones on their fists, can be used for battle, and often they are, this increases the damage of unarmed attacks by cryotus.

Linked Scales

The scales of a cryotus are so extremely cold beneath, that they link to the lower levels of flesh and seal water there. This helps take more hits easier giving +1 AC

Stat Increases

The scales of a cryotus and its crystals makes it very well protected, cryotus are also more protected against substances that would be dangerous to other species. The crystals and the general build of cryotus makes them very acrobatic and stealthy.

Due to most cryotus living deep underground areas in their hives, they speak common to understand each other and undercommon to speak with others.

Age

Cryotus age very abnormally compared to many other races, while many races grow old and eventually perish. Cryotus perish but don’t grow old, their bodies are designed to die at a small runoff of their climax as to not waste resources for the others. Most cryotus reach maturity at the age of 13.
