Homebrew Celestial Species Details
Older than the universe and just as powerful, celestials cross the boundaries of mortal possibility. With immense power, such as healing abilities and uncanny foresight, celestials demonstrate great providence over the planes, but they often appear inhuman, bordering on eldritch in appearance, disconnected utterly from the mortals they ostensibly oversee.
"In a constantly-shifting cosmos, a world this static is... refreshing."
While most celestials choose to remain in outer planes, content in their incomprehensibility, a rare few decide to descend into the mortal realm. But these celestials almost never come in their pure, godlike forms. Instead, they typically sacrifice some condition of their sublimity in order to better interact with mortals. Or, they may even imbue their essence within mortals, merging with someone worthy and willing.
Celestials are weavers of destiny, with the power to guide fate toward its course. From the domain of the astral and celestial planes, powerful true celestials exercise the breadth of their influence. Celestials, knowledgeable in the different threads of fate, aim their efforts in preserving the multiverse's longevity. This might be interpreted as goodness or benevolence, but it is perhaps more accurate to acknowledge celestial actions as being beyond mortal grasp. Indeed, some celestials pursue more ambivalent strands and developments, such as creating change for change's sake.
Some mortal faiths are based in the worship of true celestials. But most followers have not borne witness to an actual celestial, nor have they seen their direct influence. Nonetheless, celestials may take a hands-on or hands-off approach to helping humans. Stories around the planes spread of a celestial who sacrificed its immortality and omniscience and exchanged it for corporeality—embracing all the weaknesses of humanity to better serve them. For all the cruelty of mortals, it seems there are entities dedicated to saving them.
Celestials possess the following racial features:Starborn
You are resistant to Radiant damage and you cannot be Blinded by light, including light from magical effects (such as that of the Color Spray, Blinding Smite, or Sunbeam spells).
Age
True celestials are ageless creatures; however, by subjecting themselves to mortality, their physical forms may wither away over the course of one to two millennia. A celestial's mortal body cannot be revived by any means, but they can inhabit a different vessel should their consciousness still remain.
Size, Speed, and Creature Type
Celestials generally inhabit bodies rather than form ones of their own. Often, their vessel is a disciple of their faith or a willing host promised a shred of the celestials incredible power. Thus, celestials vary in size and appearance; your size can be either Medium or Small, and your base speed is equal to 30 feet or 25 feet, respectively. Your creature type is Celestial, meaning you are immune to the effects of certain spells that only target Humanoids (such as the Dominate Person or Charm Person spells), but susceptible to others that can target Celestials (such as Protection from Good and Evil or Forbiddance spells).
Elysian Potential
You can cast Starry Wisp at will, which does not count towards the maximum number of cantrips you can know or have prepared at any given time, and it scales with your character level.
Additionally, choose an Aspect from the list below. You gain an effect, a drawback, and a unique ability depending on which you choose; you can change your selection upon completion of a long rest. Your "dormant potential" can be unleashed a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus.

Spells cast via your Dormant Potential are automatically cast at a spell level equal to your proficiency modifier.
Languages
You understand Celestial and Common. You can fluently speak, comprehensively read, and deftly write these languages, in addition to one other language of your choosing.
The language of celestials is melodic and beautiful, depicting gentle noises and airy trills that sounds alien to most.
