Homebrew Bumblorans Species Details

Bumble Beginnings

The Bumbloran spends most of its life protected in the hive,  learning the values of communication until they gain their wings and coloration on their face. Bumblorans will often be yellow, but will tend to instead take colors from the local flowers around, leading to red, yellow, orange, pink, greens, blues, and many other colors of Bumblorans. Every Bumbloran has two sets of arms on their torso and use them to help glide in the air with their wings, which will also take on a color, although remain mostly transparent. They have bug like black eyes that are able to help them see around them while in flight and help keep watch for others flying around them. They also carry with them the stripes that regular bees have and fuzz around the neck, torso, and arms to help keep them warm. When a Bumbloran finally develops their wings, they are trained  to fit certain jobs and molds. The Bumblorans follow one queen who decides the hierarchy of the hive although the majority of hives have female Bumblorans as the builders, medics, smiths, and fighters. In Bumbloran societies, many of the males are able to do these jobs as well, but tend to be trained as farmers, traders, bards, and act as all around workers when a big job needs to be filled. Despite having a strict hierarchy based on the Queen's ideals, most Bumbloran remain humble and kind natured to keep the hive productive, and to please the queen who can be seen as their most important figure and sometimes, the one true goddess. Bumblorans are given their last name from the hive they inhabit or only hold a first name. their names are generally easy to speak, evoking a buzzing sound when said or humming. Most common names have long sounding a's with a j, z, g, or m to give a faint hum to the name. Examples: (Male) T'zun, Hunz, Soma (Female) Maja, Alma, Nuxa, (Both or Other) Jal, Uxa, Holma.

Rhythym and Harmonbee

In the society relationships and language are based on movement, music, and tones of their wings vibrating. While Bumblorans can learn to speak other languages, most don't know much beyond the hive's language, if their hive has adopted a language from another area then it will be taught. The Bumbloran are often able to express their feelings with the antennae on their head or by creating pitches with their wings to express mood. All interactions are spoken through mood and relationships so most Bumbloran will establish a friendship or rivalry before doing business with those from their hive. While they try to befriend those outside the hive, they generally fail to make a quick deal, leaving the hasty to avoid their stores. If befriended by one, the time will be well worth it as the Bumbloran often communicate and spread their knowledge between each other, including who is friendly and not.

Colony Creators and Survivors

Bumblorans are known to travel across the world to make new homes and as such are incredibly self sufficient in travel and survival. They can consistently fly, but their movement is hampered in cold weather. They are also able to make their own food, honey, and all have stingers that are useful in battle, making them well equipped for combat or travel. Despite this, Bumblorans know their way to the hive no matter where they are and generally get homesick when away too long. Within their 150 year lifespan, Bumbloran will try to return to their hive if they were removed or had left before death.
