Homebrew Asgardian Species Details

We are not gods. We are born, we live, we die. Just as humans do."
"Give or take five thousand years."

Built For War

Bold and hardy, Asgardians are known as skilled warriors, miners, and workers of stone and metal. Asgardians are so broad that they can weigh as much as a human standing nearly two feet taller than they are. Their courage and endurance are also easily a match for any enemy.

Asgardian skin ranges from deep brown or deep tan, like certain tones of earth. Their hair, often worn long but in simple styles, is usually black, gray, or brown, though paler Asgardians often have red hair. Male Asgardians value their beards highly and may groom them carefully or allow them to be kept uncleaned to memorialize the feasts and battles they have recently survived.

Long Lives

Asgardians can live to be more than 5,000 years old, so the oldest living Asgardians often remember a very different world. For example, some of the oldest Asgardians may recall when Asgard was built through war instead of peace. Or how an ally for centuries was once a most hated enemy. This can lead to bias and grudges that outlive some civilizations. And leads some Asgardians to wait decades before going to the ashes of fallen civilizations remembering where their valued treasured were once stores.

Asgardians are solid and enduring like the nine realms they love, weathering the passage of centuries with stoic endurance and little change. They respect the traditions of other races while mostly preferring their own battle and festival based culture. Many Asgardians are stubborn and despite asking for help. Believing that true strength is shown and earned by enduring the struggles of life. This is very different from a rousing party that may be just as likely to feast and drink ale for weeks at a time as travel to an unknown world and do battle side by side. Comradery is very important to the otherwise anti-social Asgardians. It is better to fall side by side with a friend than to live long alone.

SLOW TO TRUST

Asgardians get along passably well with most other races. Some have been allies, many have been sworn enemies at one point in their elongated lifespan. Which kind you encounter is difficult to predict.
