Homebrew Anarim Species Details

Anarim harpies are tall and graceful, with powerful wings and sharp talons, perfectly adapted for life in the frozen tundra. Their feathers, usually white with silver or pale blue highlights, provide natural insulation against the cold and help them move silently across snow-covered landscapes. The Anarim are known for their sharp vision and extraordinary agility, which they use to hunt, gather, and navigate the difficult terrain.

Though they are skilled hunters, the Anarim are not aggressive by nature. They live in tribal flocks, each led by an elder known as the Snowseer, who guides their migrations and interprets the natural signs of the changing seasons. These flocks are highly communal, with all members contributing to the survival of the group.

Anarim are friendly to outsiders, especially travelers who wander into their lands lost or in need. They have a deep sense of hospitality and often share their knowledge of the tundra, providing food, shelter, and guidance in exchange for news of the wider world.

Artisanal Craft: Iceweaving

The Anarim are master iceweavers, a craft that is unique to their culture and requires both delicate skill and magical precision. They have learned to shape the ever-present ice and snow of their homeland into intricate sculptures, structures, and even functional tools. This craft is not simply about carving ice; the Anarim possess a magical ability to weave ice, causing it to bend, grow, and take on fantastical forms that defy normal logic.

Their creations range from delicate jewelry made of crystalline ice that never melts, to elaborate ice structures and wind chimes that sing with the howling winds. They also weave complex snow tapestries, which capture patterns and images in frozen form. Some of their more famous works include ice labyrinths used in ceremonial rites and intricate ice wings they wear as adornments.

Iceweaving is more than a craft—it is a sacred tradition tied to the Anarim’s reverence for their environment. They believe that by weaving the ice, they are honoring the spirits of the frozen lands and maintaining the balance between nature and their people.

Integration into Towns and Cities

Though the Anarim are primarily a nomadic people who roam the frozen northern tundra, some of them have chosen to integrate into the towns and cities of Del’Sar as citizens, bringing their unique culture, skills, and perspective to the urban world. Despite their deep-rooted traditions, these snow harpies are adaptable and have found ways to thrive within more settled communities while maintaining their cultural identity.
