Homebrew Cimexian Species Details

An insectoid race that resembles a humanoid in shape but has multiple limbs and has an elongated neck as well as other bug like features, a Cimexian is naturally strong and quiet but unintelligent due to its seclusive lifestyle. Its skin (or Chitin) is usually a colour that allows the creature to hide easily in the area it originates from, e.g. Greeny Brown if it lived in a forest, and is a hard natural armour that protects it from most non-magical damage.

Cimexian Traits

A medium sized insectoid with humanoid characteristics.

Darkvision 30 ft

Darkvision. Accustomed to life in the dark, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 30 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Wall Walker

You can move across any wall or ceilings at your normal climbing speed.

Cutaneous Gas Exchange.

Your character has no lungs and insted breaths through their skin, this means that your character cannot breath under water or similar liquids as you have no ability to hold your breath. However this ability also prevents you from being attacked via airborne effects e.g. a sleeping powder will not put you to sleep but if you are in a room deprived of oxygen you will still fall unconscious.

Friend of Bugs

Your character emits a special pheromone that stops any other bugs hostility to you, however if you would attack one or more of the bugs that are currently being friendly towards you they will regain their hostility towards you.

Brittle Body

Your characters exoskeleton heals extremely slowly and therefore can only heal (character level) d4 on a short rest and you only gain half your health on a long rest all healing via magic or potions work as normal.

Paralysing Touch

Your body naturally produces a paralytic toxin that causes your target to make a (8 + proficiency bonus + player con modifier) constitution saving throw when ever you make a melee attack with your claws, on a fail target becomes paralysed for (1d4 + 1) rounds, on a pass the target does not suffer from this effect.

This effect will add an extra d4 when player reaches level 7, 14 and 20.

Bugs Strength

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Natural Armor

Your exoskeleton acts as a piece of armour that you have naturally produced giving your character a +2 to their armour class when wearing no armor and +1 to it when in light armor.

Second Stomach

You can eat any non magical food/drink item that would normally poison most people*.

*your DM can rule that this trait won't work on specific poisonous items that are not produced naturally e.g. If you drank assassins blood.

Tremor sense 60ft

Your bug like appendages are extremely sensitive to creatures that move around you. You can sense the location of any creature that is moving on foot with in a 60 ft area of you.
