Homebrew Aqualithe Species Details

Born of storm and sea, Aqualithes are fluid souls given form—remnants of elemental beings who once ruled the depths.

Whether shaped by ancient magic, divine intervention, or a cataclysmic rebirth, Aqualithes are living echoes of the ocean’s will. Their bodies shift between liquid grace and humanoid shape, their thoughts infused with the memory of crashing waves and the stillness of the abyss. Some were once mighty elementals or spirits of the sea who sacrificed everything to protect the balance of nature. Others are mysterious creations, neither fully elf nor elemental, but something entirely new.

Their existence is marked by both power and loss. Many Aqualithes awaken with no memory of who they once were, but the sea remembers—and calls to them in dreams, in storms, and in silence. As they grow, so too do the whispers of their forgotten past, urging them toward destiny.

Elementally attuned, naturally amphibious, and guided by a deep connection to water, Aqualithes walk the line between mortal and myth. They are children of the tide—restless, curious, and eternal.

Aqualithe Traits

As an Aqualithe, your body flows with living water and the forgotten power of the deep. You possess both the adaptive fluidity of elemental beings and the grace of seafolk. Your natural affinity for the ocean grants you amphibious abilities, innate elemental power, and a form that bends but never breaks. As your strength grows, so too do the echoes of your true, ancient self.

Amorphous Body

You can squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide, provided you are not wearing or carrying anything. You have advantage on ability checks made to escape a grapple or restraint.

You have a swimming speed of 30 feet.
You have resistance to cold damage.

Telepathy

You can telepathically communicate with any creature within 30 feet that understands at least one language.
Your telepathic voice sounds like waves, bubbling water, or a faint current.

Elemental Resonance

  • Level 3:
Surge Pulse – As a bonus action, deal 1d6 cold or lightning damage (your choice) to all creatures within 5 feet. Constitution save (DC = 8 + prof + Wisdom mod) for half damage.
Alternatively, cast Shape Water at will without preparing or learning it.

  • Level 5:
Tide Shield – As a reaction when you take damage, unleash a wave of elemental energy. All creatures in 10 feet take 2d8 cold or lightning damage (Dex save, DC as above). You gain resistance to that damage type for 1 minute.

  • Level 11:
Brinelash Form – When reduced to 0 HP but not killed outright, you liquefy into water. You automatically stabilize, your space becomes difficult terrain for enemies, and all enemies within 10 feet take 3d8 cold or lightning damage. You reform at 1 HP at the end of the round.

  • Level 17:
Awakened Torrent – Once per long rest, you may cast Tsunami, Control Water, or Storm Sphere without expending a spell slot or components. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability.
