Homebrew ankle biter (chihuahua) Species Details
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Canith. Canith is a language consisting of various barks and howls, along with body language. There is now written form of the language and it is rather lacking in words. That said, there are many songs and stories in told exclusively in Canith that have been passed down for generations. Most chihuahua love to share them, despite the fact that to an untrained ear they make absolutely no sense.
Ear Piercing Bark
anyone within 15 feet of the chihuahua must make a save (determined by your dm) or drop their held items to cover their ears or be deafened until the end of their turn, you only gain this ability once per long rest.
Puny Bite
Unfortunately, due to your small size your bite attack stops being very powerful. Your bites now deal a 1d4 -2, however you can add your dexterity modifier instead of strength.
Fluffy Charm
Due to your small size and innocent appearence, others are less likely to want to hurt you. Once per day you can charm someone using your natural cuteness. This has the same effects as casting charm person, with the exception the target will not know they were charmed.
Inspiring Mascot
You're so cute, that your very presence encourages others to do better. You learn the guidance cantrip.
Fury of the Small
When you damage a creature with an attack or a spell and the creature's size is larger than yours, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Hard to Grab. You may disengage as a bonus action.
Annoying Little Shit. You are inherently irritating, and can use that to your advantage. Once per day, you can start barking incessantly at a high pitch at a creature within 30 ft of you. This imposes on a Wisdom saving throw. The save is 15, or your spell save DC, whichever is higher. If this save is failed in combat, the target has disadvantage to attack any other creature than you. If this save is failed when not in combat, they must attack you. This initiates combat, and the effect ends.
Ankle Biter. As a tiny creature, when you make a Bite attack, it only reaches the ankles and lower legs of medium sized creatures. As a bonus action after a successful bite attack, you may impose a contested acrobatics check. If your roll is than theirs, they fall prone.
Darkvision
Thanks to your canine blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
