Homebrew 🌀 The Nefelibata (Cloud-Walkers) Species Details

Lore

Born from the union of Azorean spirits and Atlantean echoes, the Nefelibata (literally “cloud‑walker” in Portuguese) are ethereal beings who dwell between sky, mountain, and sea. They arise where legends converge—Sete Cidades, crater lakes of enchanted mourning (blue lagoon, green lagoon), geothermal mists of Furnas. Whispered to descend when fog drapes the cliffs, they echo the Mouras (cursed maidens of liminal spaces), float like Alpha‑like Mistérios (ghostly presences), and are guardians of hidden Azorean shrines

Culture & Society

  • Live in enclaves near lake‑craters and thermal vents, preserving ancient grottos and Maruxinhos‑like nymph shrines.

  • Gather seasonally during mystic fog festivals, retelling tales of Mouras guarding treasures, and MistĂ©rios wandering volcanic ruins.

  • Their councils include an “Atlantean” matriarch, who shares memories of lost civilizations.

  • Value dreams and celestial navigation—they wander, unbound by borders, yet rooted in their islands.

  • Suggested Backgrounds: Hermit, Sage (folklore), Outlander.
