Homebrew Tree Goblin Species Details
Swinging high through the canopy layer, long-limbed, ape-like Tree goblins form packs of roaming hunters in search of nuts and bugs nestled away among the leaves; their long tongues coated in slimy saliva dig for small insects buried in the bark. These goblins are thin and long, their backs sporting quill-like protofeathers, and massive eyes give these flighty goblins excellent sight among the trees; often their only defense against becoming a cloud giants next meal.
Due to the threat of cloud giants and other arboreal predators, Individual tree goblins tend to stay close to established civilizations where these monsters are less frequent, feasting on naturally growing fruits and nuts on the outskirts of elven cities. Far too occasionally, the curious tree goblins will enter the city to scavenge, swiping trinkets from trash, food from plates, and valuables from unsuspecting pockets. Working together, one tree goblin causes a distraction, while the others swipe what they can before making their escape; the bounty then shared in a hideout somewhere hidden in the leaves. Tree goblins like to adorn themselves in their new sparkly belongings, for nothing more than simply enjoying them, and older, more experienced tree goblins will be covered head to toe in jewelry. in the Elven cities, distance is often measured by lengths of a tree goblins arm, and it is said that new mothers who receive a visit from a Tree Goblin during the night have given birth to a child who will grow up to particularly wild.
Never will you find a swifter messenger in the elven cities, with nobles generally have a few Tree goblins in their stead; using their natural agility to deliver important information with urgency. Some tree goblins also travel the titan trees in search of eggs from select insects to sell. When hatched and raised, the insects have a number of uses; from food, to silk production, to transportation.
