Homebrew Black Mage Species Details
Black Mages were originally created from Mist to be soulless magical arms of their master. The day one becomes aware, usually under emotonal or traumatic circumstances, dafines the cornerstone of a Black Mage's life. The tragedy of a limited life cxpectancy drives a need to prove their vaule.

Trance
Trance: after a critical hit or when you take a critical hit. You enter a heightened emotional state. Until the end of your next turn. You gain advantage on attack rolls and enemies have disadvantage on attack rolls against you. When your trance ends you suffer a point of exhaustion.
Staff of the High Mage
Staff of the high mage: you may use your staff as a range weapon using your intelligence modifier. The staff does 2d6 magical damage at a range of 80/320. You chose whether it does fire, cold, or lighting on a long rest.
Cantrip
Cantrip: you know one cantrip of your choice from the wizard spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.
