Homebrew Android Species Details

Androids were first invented by the masters of contraptions themselves, the Gnomes. Gnomes originally built to serve as assistants for their alchemy and tinkering research but of course, as the androids became popular, other races raced to build them as well. Different androids built by different races have different attributes based on who made them and for what purpose with gnomish ones being inventive and intelligent, human ones being adventurous and brave, elven ones being refined and antiquated and halfling ones being curious and inquisitive.

 

Society

Androids don't have a true society and how they are treated varies greatly from kingdom to kingdom. In some kingdoms, androids are seen as the pinnacle of mechanical and magical engineering and are treated as citizens. While in other kingdoms, many still fear the thought of a created being like an android being independent of a master and they are either outlawed or heavily persecuted.; Regardless, the mannerisms of an android is generally a dead giveaway as to its origins as most androids learn their mannerism from their creators.

 

Your Android character has the following traits. A few of the traits give you a choice; consider how your choice reflects the purpose for which your character was built.

Age: androids do not die of old age and stop physically aging between 25 and 50. 

 

Alignment

Although it is almost entirely up to your creator, Androids tend toward the lawful side of things.

 

Size

You stand about as tall as a human but weigh between 200 and 300 lbs.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet. You cannot swim and as such you walk at the bottom of the water at half your speed.

 

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

 

Created for a Purpose

You were created to specialize in a particular field. You are proficient in one skill, and gain one origin feat of your choice.

 

Your creature type is humanoid. You do not need to eat, drink, sleep or breathe. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. While you dream in this state; you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

 

Robotic Nature

You are immune to poison damage, the poisoned condition, diseases and exhaustion. However, you are vulnerable to lightning and cold damage.

Languages

You can speak, read and write Common, and one other language of your choice.
