Homebrew Alhoon Species Details

Through intense mental training, meditation, and ritual, some Alhoons have broken the confines of the mind flayer hivemind. Though once they were evil, now broken free of the hivemind, they may align themselves as they wish- though remaining undead. From this, they have lost some of their previous power- albeit not all. Still, Alhoons remain a powerful race, now seperate from all confines, to do as they might wish.

 

Alhoon Traits

Alhoons; undead mind flayers that have now, in this instance, broken free of the hivemind.

Magic Resistance.

 The Alhoon has advantages on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

 

Legendary Resistances (1/day)

If the Alhoon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed, instead.

 

Mind Blast (Recharge 6/6 per short rest).

The Alhoon magically emits psychic energy in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 13 Intelligence saving throw, or take 5d8 psychic damage and be Stunned until the end of the Alhoon's next turn.

 

Undead summon (Recharge 1/3 per short rest and 3/3 per long rest)

The Alhoon attempts to summon an undead creature of their choosing, below CR 27. The summon lasts either until the Alhoon is killed, the creature is killed, or until the next short rest.

 

Ability Score Increase.

The Alhoon's Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and Constitution each increase by 1.

 

Age

Alhoons, though separated from the hivemind, do not age, due to being undead.

 

Languages.

Your primary method of communication is through telepathy, however- you can read, write, and speak Common, Deepspeech, and Common sign language.
