Homebrew Bone Goblin Species Details

In the deepest depths of the underdark, past the glowing mushrooms and living in the darkest of dark caverns, live a type of goblinoid secluded completely from other creatures. Bone goblins are known for being small (even by goblin standards) and contain a mouth full of brittle, jagged teeth (for those who still have any still in their mouth).

Due to the complete lack of light most bone goblins are blind, relying on echo location instead. Bone goblins tend to have pale yellow or glowing white eyes, bat noses, unsaturated hair (from white, grey to black) and pale ashy grey-green or blue-green skin.

Bone goblins as a society believe bones are sacred, for they hold the echo of life and death at once. They use different types of bones for various things. Some examples of this are the currency they use is based off of baby teeth, teeth, molars and incisors of any creature. They may use a ribcage for a chest plate, scalemail made from nails or teeth, or a jawbone as a weapon like my bone goblin above lol

A common tradition among bone goblins is making jewelry out of a deceased loved ones finger or toenails. Since most goblins work with their hands, keeping the finger and toe nails of their deceased in a way honors their life (and death)

Bone Goblin Traits

These creatures gain an advantage in certain situations when using their sense of hearing and smelling. Due to their blindness, they gain disadvantage on perception checks using their sight.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Cunning Artisan

As part of a short rest, you can harvest bone and hide from a slain beast, construct, dragon, monstrosity, or plant creature of size Small or larger to create one of the following items: a shield, a club, a javelin, or 1d4 darts or blowgun needles. To use this trait, you need a blade, such as a dagger, or appropriate artisan's tools, such as leatherworker's tools.

This creature gains +2 to Dexterity and +1 to Constitution
