Homebrew Chimera Species Details

Chimeras are an amalgamation of parts from other humanods that come from resurrection exparements gone wrong or failed attempts to create artifical life. Thanks to the mix of parts they have a variety of appearances and skills. They are very simple creatures that just want to exist and explore the world they suddenly appeared in.

Art created by Thomas Fischbach. All rights to the character above are his. I just liked the idea and made a dnd race for it.

Chimera Traits

Traits for the Chimera species

Ability Score Increase

Increase one stat by 2 and two other stats by 1

Age

Chimera can technically live forever but after about 100 years their body parts decompose beyond use and they have to eather get new ones or their body will stop working. If their body stops working their consciousness will remain but become inactive until they are eather resurrected or their body is fully destroyed. If this happens then they just cease existing entirely.

Alignment

Chimera usually lean towards the neutral alignments but can easily be swayed to eather good or evil. Due to their unpredictable nature they often bring chaos with them.

Size

Chimera's size is eather small or medium depending on if they have more parts of small or medium creatures. You can de anywhere between 3 and 8 feet.

Speed

You have a 30ft walk speed

Mishmash

Due to your physiology being a hodgepodge of other humanoids or beasts you can chose up to 8 trates from any other humanoid species of medium or small size that do not change your stats, proficiencies, age, alignment, or walk speed. You can also chose 1 feat and Ignore any species restrictions, class restrictions still apply.

Harvest and Attach

You may make a dc 16 medicine check to harvest a body part from the courps of any humanoid you come across. On a success you gain that body part as an item. On a fail the body is mutilated to the point where you can not try again. If you find a already removed part you can just collect it. Whenever you take a short or long rest you can replace one of your traits gained from mishmash with a trait from that creature and you gain a body part from the corresponding humanoid that gave you the previous trait as an item for use later.

At level 6 the dc for the medicine check becomes 13. at level 12 the dc for the medicine check becomes 10.

Skills You Picked Up

You gain proficiencies with 3 skills of your choice.
