Homebrew Clayling FULL REWORK?!?! Species Details

The Clayling is a race of, uh, clay people. Its heart is a sheet of enchanted paper which gives the clay in contact its consciousness. The paper can be written on before birth, detailing instructions that renders the Clayling enslaved.

While in water, Claylings must roll a constitution saving throw. On failure, 20 pounds of clay is lost in the water. If already tiny, take 10 damage instead.

Normal Clayling:

Constitution +1

The Clayling has the perk of altering its size and shape if it has the materials to do so. For example, you could knead the top of your head to form cat ears. Wet dirt can serve as clay to assimilate to itself, though won't be as effective as true clay. Wet dirt is half as effective as true clay. Size can vary from small to huge, the individual's stats altering with the size:

Small, requires at least 50 pounds of true clay: all stats round to 3/4 of original (round up) with +3 buff to dexterity quick perk after division, roll d20 on acrobatics for chance to weave an attack, DM can decide threshold. Player can decide how they dodge for the sake of style.

Medium, requires at least 150 pounds of true clay: all stats normal.

Large, requires at least 250 pounds of true clay: strength increases to 7/4ths of original (round down), constitution modifier x2, dexterity -3, +3 AC if base AC is below 13. bonus 10 temp HP (CAN BE HEALED).

Huge, requires 500 pounds of true clay or above: Strength times 3, constitution x2, dexterity -6, +6 AC if base AC stat is below 13, otherwise +3 AC. bonus 20 temp HP.

Weight cap at 750 pounds. Any attempts recorded at adding more clay past 750 pounds only had the clay fall off.

Lesser Clayling:

The Lesser Clayling is a much slimmer version of its default counterpart, resembling a stick figure. It has much more lenient requirements for its size alterations at the cost of not being able to exceed 300 pounds. Any attempts recorded to add more clay past 300 pounds were met with the clay merely falling off.

Strength -1

Constitution -2

Dexterity +1

Small requires at least 30 pounds of clay.

Medium requires at least 50 pounds of clay.

Large requires at least 90 pounds of clay.

Huge caps at 200 pounds of clay.

You're not allowed to just touch the floor while it's raining or something and become the whole earth. It looks cool, but is gonna be really unfun to play with. For the sake of lore, we'll say the paper subconsciously prevents more clay from being attached. You can consciously choose if clay you touch can assimilate to you.

And now, the cool factor:

Augment: As a free action, the clayling can decrease its size while morphing its clay substance into extra limbs or weaponry. Can do up to two augmentations at a time.

extra pair of arms, requires 1/5 of total clay: +2 modifier to unarmed damage. -1 AC until re-assimilated.

Weaponry (arm blade, hammer, mace, etc. YOU CANNOT MAKE A GUN, DOOFUS), requires from 1/2 pound to 20 pounds of clay (DM can decide): -1 AC until re-assimilated, but get a weapon out of it! Ever wanted a katana on your leg?

Full compression: Can only be done at Huge size. Revert to a medium creature standing at 6 feet tall by compressing all your clay. AC becomes 18. Unarmed strike becomes 1d12 times 3. CAN ONLY BE DONE IN COMBAT. LASTS 10 TURNS OR UNTIL COMBAT ENDS. Upon exhaustion of this perk, all compressed clay will de-assimilate and reverts you to your base stats at medium size. You are fully asleep for the remainder of combat or will be forced into long rest if outside of combat.

Clayling FULL REWORK?!?! Traits

The endless versatility of clay meets the gift of life...

Deadly Digits

Claylings have the option to change their unarmed strike's damage to 2d4 piercing by molding their fingers to sharp points. Considered a bonus action.

If using Full Compression with Deadly Digits, damage becomes 3d12 piercing with a chance to hold an enemy in place via JAMMING YOUR HAND THROUGH THEIR VERY CHEST (roll d20 with disadvantage. must roll a crit for that to happen).
