Homebrew Bag of Possession Species Details
Through a cruel twist of fate, you have been ripped from your body and have become a magical bag capable of taking over the body and mind of others.
Bag of Possession Traits
Creature Type: Construct
Size: Tiny (The size of a small handbag)
Speed: 10 feet
Holding Vomit
You can swallow and vomit back up items.
As an action, you may choose to swallow an object you or your host can touch. Alternatively, you may use an action to vomit up an object you have previously swallowed. You may hold up to 500 pounds at once, with their volume not exceeding 64 cubic feet. If any living things are placed into the bag they immediately begin to suffocate. The bag cannot swallow creatures size Large or greater. When attempting to swallow an unwilling creature, the bag or it's host must grapple the creature. Once grappled, it takes 1 turn per each size above Tiny that the creature is. (Tiny - 1 Turn, Small - 2 Turns, Medium - 3 Turns).
Physical Thievery
When you are not actively possessing a creature, your DEX and STR stats are as follows:
STR 0
DEX 8
When you possess a creature, your STR and DEX score, speed, size, and AC are equal to the scores of the possessed creature. You also gain access to all of that creature's non-magical actions and equipment. You may cast your own spells through the host, but you are unable to cast any spells previously prepared by the host.
Additionally, you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to that creature's HP which cannot exceed original your max HP. (If your max HP is 11 and you would possess a host with 32 HP, you would gain 11 Temp HP while possessing the host.)
Possession
You have the power to take over the mind and body of a creature that wears you.
When you are adorned by a medium or smaller creature with an intelligence score between 5 and 11, you may make that creature make a wisdom saving throw where the DC is equal to 8 + WIS. On a fail, the creature becomes possessed by you. On a success, the creature becomes aware you attempted to do something to it, but is not certain of what. That creature becomes immune to your possession for 24 hours. Your possession of the creature lasts until you take total damage equal to that creature's hit points and that creature dies, you are removed from the creature, the creature is forced to make a WIS Save, or the creature's intelligence increases over 11 or drops below 5. When the possession ends, if still alive, the host falls unconscious, and is aware they were possessed upon waking up 1d4 hours later.
If you attempt to blatantly harm your own host, the host is forced to make an additional WIS Save. On a success, the possession ends.
You may attempt to possess a new host a number of times equal to your WIS Mod. You regain all expended uses after a long rest.
While possessing a host, any creature that grows suspicious of you may make an Insight check against your Deception check. If their check exceeds yours, the creature becomes aware of your possession, though not certain that it originates from the bag.
Inanimate
You no longer have a living body.
As a Bag of Possession, you no longer have any need to breathe or eat, and you do not bleed. Additionally, rather than sleep you may go into a trance for 4 hours. Your host does NOT gain these benefits.
Due to your curse, you can never truly die. If you are reduced to 0 HP and fail all 3 death saves, you instead go into a deep slumber for 1d6 weeks. During this time the bag functions identically as a bag of holding and you cannot perform any actions or perceive anything around it. I reviving spell may return you from your slumber early.
