Homebrew Vulpiron Species Details

Forged in orbital forges above dying stars, Vulpiron are the final evolution of the Vulpiran race — a merging of spirit, memory, and machine. When their ancient sun began collapsing, the Vulpiran seers preserved their race by binding souls into artificial bodies called "star-chassis."

These chassis retained their creators’ elegance: lithe fox-like forms built from lightweight alloys and energy-reactive fur that glows like starlight. But within their sleek forms lies deep inner conflict — the tension between free will and the remnant protocols of their creators.

Some Vulpiron seek lost knowledge to restore the old empire, while others drift among the stars as mercenaries, explorers, or philosophers — both alien and achingly familiar.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Intelligence or Constitution increases by 1 (your choice).

Age. Vulpiron do not age like organic beings. They are “awakened” fully formed and remain functional for centuries unless destroyed. Most Vulpiron function for up to 200 years before their cores begin to fail.

Alignment. Their core programming leans neutral, but their Vulpiran instincts create tension — many lean chaotic neutral, torn between impulse and protocol.

Size. Vulpiron stand between 5 and 6 feet tall and weigh between 180 and 240 pounds due to synthetic components. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Vulpiron Traits

Starlit spirits in synthetic shells — living memory and metal, shaped by cosmic purpose.

Foxform Agility

Additionally, you may take the Disengage action as a bonus action once per short or long rest.

Synthetic Soul

When targeted by a spell that would detect life (like detect life or detect thoughts), you appear as a dim echo of life — like a memory wrapped in machinery.

Constructed Resilience

  • You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
  • You don't need to eat, drink, or breathe much. But need to be exposed to solar-stellar light to charge.
  • You are immune to disease.
  • You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. But it can be paralyzed if energy low.

Astral Core

You can cast Detect Thoughts once per long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Languages

Vulpiran speech is melodic and interwoven with soft synthetic harmonics — almost like music encoded with meaning.
