Homebrew Bramelkin Species Details

Twisted from vine, bark, and forest binding magic, the Bramelkin are plant-like folk born of haunted hollows, ancient rites, and the whispered will of the woods. Some were created as forest guardians, others as messengers or scarecrows for druidic circles, but many now roam beyond the trees...sentient remnants of spells too stubborn to fade. Though they resemble animate twigs or straw, each Bramelkin carries the strange heartbeat of sap, memory, and the wild.

Bramelkin Traits

As a Bramelkin, you are a creature of living wood and tangled forest magic. Your body is hardy but unusual, woven from bark, vine, and old twine. The forest flows through you, its resilience, its secrets, and its silence.

Witchwood Resilience

Your body, crafted from ancient roots and twisted vines, is resistant to corrupting energies.
You have resistance to poison and necrotic damage.

Twisting Roots

As a bonus action, you can dig your roots into the earth and become unnaturally still. Until you move voluntarily, you can’t be forcibly moved, and you have advantage on saving throws against being knocked prone.
You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Forest Tongue

You speak the language of the woods. You can cast Speak with Animals once per long rest, using Wisdom as your spellcasting ability for this trait.

Groveheart Renewal

Your connection to the wild deepens, allowing you to draw life from the land.

Once per long rest, when you finish a short rest, you can choose to regain one expended Hit Die and remove one of the following conditions from yourself: charmed, frightened, or poisoned.

If you rest while surrounded by natural terrain (trees, grass, plants, etc.), you also gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus.
