Homebrew Cyborg - T.E.S.S. Variant Species Details

Integrated Armor.
Your body is reinforced with plating. While you aren’t wearing armor, your base Armor Class is 13 + your Dexterity modifier. You can still benefit from shields or magic armor. You are always considered proficient with your body armor.

Constructed Resilience.
Your mechanical parts give you resistance to many biological hazards. You have:

  • Advantage on saving throws against being poisoned

  • Resistance to poison damage

  • Immunity to disease

  • You do not need to eat, drink, or breathe

  • You are immune to magical sleep

  • You do not sleep; instead, you enter a motionless, conscious 6-hour Sentry’s Rest

Mechanical Aptitude.
You gain proficiency with one of the following tools: Tinker’s Tools, Smith’s Tools, or Thieves’ Tools.

Self-Repair Protocol.
Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you may activate internal repair systems. You regain hit points equal to your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.

(At level 1, that’s 2 + your Con mod, e.g., 2 + 3 = heal 5 HP)

  • This mimics a built-in emergency repair subroutine—great for storytelling and survival

Additional:

  • Climbing (with cybernetic grip mods) — treated as difficult terrain unless you take a feat or gloves/augment for it.

  • Dash Boost (flavored but not mechanical unless feat-based) — you might describe dashing as activating brief thrusters or hydraulic pistons.

  • Night Vision / Optics — granted by darkvision, if you have it from another source or your DM allows it as part of your tech.
