Homebrew Vulturefolk Species Details
Home to barren and unforgiving climates, Vulturefolk are a integral part to their habitats. They are known to eat the deceased so that it doesn't go to waist, cause disease to spread, or worse, turn into an undead. The rough life of a Vulturefolk doesn't beat down upon them as one would think. They believe that their guiding purpose is to help those in need, and to keep the lands pure with the gifts of fortitude that come natural to them.
Racial Traits
Strange and Intimidating
Humanoid Vulturefolk look nearly identical to beastial vultures, akin to how an aarakocra may share the appearance of an eagle, although these two races are not as related despite what one may think. They are cousins among planes, but have vastly different connection and lifestyles.
Many people who encounter a vulturefolk are intimidated by their tendencies to consume the dead, or maybe it's their ability to spit volatile acid at scum or monsters they deem a danger to the Material Plane. Past this, most vulturefolk are kind, compassionate, wise, and willing to help even with no offer of a reward for their good charity.
Sherpas of Storms
Vulturefolk flourish where most flounder. In the scorching wastes of a grand desert, the dense brush of a wild jungle, or the cold uncaring slurry of a frozen tundra, a fortunate soul will stumble upon a Vulturefolk. They know the land and its hazards, gliding through it with ease and whimsy, able to find edible food and drink out of the safe flaura and fauna.
They try to reduce as many casualties as they can, as they know not every wanderer is adept to their native life in the place they have walked into.
Ritualistic Belifes
Vulturefolk come from the Plane of Earth, and as such usually stay and live inside hole dwellings or simple huts, never fully believing in advanced cities or kingdoms. They also take great feasts, where hunters and gatherers bring fruits and meats, fresh and spoiled, as to not waist what life and effort the earth gives. It is a common belief that one of the most important rituals that vulturefolk performe is to consume ones dead, or to lay their body to rest in a place that most benefits the earth with their bodies. Furthermore, a vulturefolks body has almost supernatural effects for the environment upon death. Trees will grow in years instead of decades, fruits will bear in bushels monthly, and the lands will heal from the damages of war and destruction.
