Homebrew Aza'dani Species Details
Long before the Dragonlords arrived, there existed a coastal civilization of unparalleled brilliance—the city of Aza'dan. Its people were masters of hydro-magic and arcane engineering, building towering spires of coral and crystal that sang with power. They were amphibious, walking the land in a muted guise but revealing their true, vibrant forms in the sea. Their power, however, bred hubris. They sought to command the storms and tides themselves, a direct challenge to the dominion of the Titan Sydon.
Enraged by their arrogance, Sydon unleashed the full fury of the ocean. A great cataclysm, the "Falling Star Tsunami," shattered their city and plunged it beneath the waves. But the Aza'dani did not perish. They adapted, using their advanced knowledge to create a new, secret kingdom in the crushing deep, forever hidden from the surface world they now viewed with suspicion and resentment. They became a myth, a legend of a "Sunken City."
Aza'dani Traits
Your Aza'dani character has the following traits, a legacy of a kingdom caught between the dry land and the crushing deep.Dual Form
You have two physiological forms determined by your exposure to water.
-
Surface Guise: When you have been fully dry for at least 1 minute, you take on a humanoid appearance. Your skin tone becomes more muted, and any fins or other aquatic features retract, making you appear as a tall, athletic human or sea-elf.
-
True Form: When you are submerged in water or have been soaked within the last minute, your true Aza'dani nature is revealed. Your skin takes on vibrant, iridescent patterns of blue, green, or violet; small, elegant fins may grace your limbs; and your eyes might glow with a soft, bioluminescent light.
Guardian of the Depths
You are adapted to the crushing pressure and cold of the deep sea. You have resistance to cold damage, and you ignore any of the drawbacks caused by a deep underwater environment.
Amphibious
You can breathe both air and water.
Legacy of the Sunken Kingdom:
The arcane knowledge of your ancestors flows through your blood. You know the Shape Water cantrip.
Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the Create or Destroy Water spell once with this trait. Starting at 5th level, you can cast the Watery Sphere spell once with this trait, though the sphere's radius is 10 feet instead of 15.
You regain the ability to cast these spells in this way when you finish a long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Aza'dani Technology
You have proficiency with one type of artisan's tools of your choice, a faint echo of your people's lost crafting traditions.
