Homebrew Crusnik Species Details

Ideal classes for the Crusnik:

*Paladin (Oath of Vengeance) / Monk (Way of the Long Death) Multiclass* * This combination might seem unusual, but it synergizes surprisingly well to represent a Crusnik's themes: * *Paladin (Oath of Vengeance):* Represents the Crusnik's purpose – often hunting powerful evils (like vampires, or other significant threats). It provides divine smites (bursts of power), heavy armor (if desired, though Monk features might discourage it), and Aura of Hate (at later levels, representing their overwhelming presence). Channel Divinity options like Abjure Enemy and Vow of Enmity are perfect for targeting specific powerful foes. * *Monk (Way of the Long Death):* This subclass embodies the vampiric, life-draining, and resilient aspects.

Touch of Death:* Gain temporary hit points when reducing a creature to 0 HP. This represents consuming their essence. *

*Hour of Reaping:* Frighten creatures around you, showcasing an intimidating presence. *

*Mastery of Death:* Spend ki points to avoid falling to 0 HP, showing incredible resilience.

*Ability Scores (Point Buy Example):* STR, DEX, CON ( (Crucial for HP, Dhampir Bite, and Crusnik resilience), INT (Can be a dump stat if not needed for skills), WIS (Monk's primary stat, good for perception and Wisdom saves), CHAR  (Paladin's spellcasting stat, good for intimidation/persuasion)   -Adjust these based on whether you lean more into armored Paladin (Dex lower, Str higher) or unarmored Monk (Dex and Wis high).

Unique Crusnik Ability: Blood Pull This would be a custom ability, building upon the Dhampir's Vampiric Bite.

*Blood Pull (Crusnik Feature - Homebrew)* * *Prerequisites:* Dhampir Race, Character Level 5th+ (or at a point your DM deems appropriate for a significant power spike). *

*Effect:* As an action, you can extend your psionic or monstrous influence. Choose one creature within 30 feet of you that has 0 hit points or has died within the last minute. You can pull the essence of their spilled blood and vital energy directly to yourself, no matter how dispersed.

* You regain hit points equal to 2d6 + your Constitution modifier. This healing increases to 3d6 at 11th level and 4d6 at 17th level. * Additionally, until the end of your next turn, you gain advantage on your next melee attack roll. *

*Usage:* You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. *

*Flavor:* This ability is more than just a bite; it's the raw, terrifying power of a Crusnik drawing sustenance and power from the remnants of life around them. It could manifest as wisps of crimson energy flowing to you, or a soundless, guttural groan echoing in your mind as you absorb the essence.

*Purposeful Hunter:* Driven by a personal vendetta against a specific type of evil (perhaps literal vampires, or aberrations, or those who embody cruelty). This gives purpose to their monstrous abilities. *

*Internal Struggle:* Constantly battling the beast within, striving to maintain their humanity while embracing the power of the Crusnik. This could be represented by choices on whether to use "Blood Pull" or relying solely on their Dhampir Bite. *

*Appearance Shift:* When using "Blood Pull" or expending significant power (like a Paladin's Divine Smite or Monk's high-level abilities), their physical form might momentarily shift, becoming more monstrous or angelic (depending on how you flavor your Crusnik). Perhaps shadowy wings, glowing eyes, or sharpened teeth become more prominent. *

*Fear and Awe:* Other creatures react to them with a mix of fear and awe due to their unsettling presence and formidable power.
