Homebrew Asogian Species Details

I had been searching the woods for supplies when I saw it. It was squat- couldn't have been more than four feet tall. It had long arms that dragged with it as it walked. At first, I thought the lack of legs was the strangest part, but then, as it stared at me, it extended its neck by at least a foot, and stared me down until I left. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget its bulging eyes on its weird brick-shaped face. I don't know when I'll be able to sleep again.

- Eye Witness

Asogians are squat, foreign creatures of extra-planar origins. Asogians may appear scary, but they are quite peaceful. They have an extremely strong connection to life and the forces that make it work, and have high wisdom because of it. They only appear in the Forgotten Realms for one night every few months. Only a rare few have ever seen an Asogian, and typically, only those who have seen one know they exist.

Physical Description

Asogians are short, chubby creatures with large eyes on a rectangular-heart shaped head. They have a slightly transparent neck that can extend by two feet, which is often used to look over obstacles or intimidate predators. They lack legs, and have stubby feet that resemble four finger hands. Most likely to make up for their lack of legs, Asogians have long arms, which can be used to run in replacement of their feet. Their hands bare four long fingers. The center of their chests are slightly transparent, and the heart can be seen from outwards view points- especially when it glows. Asogians can appear in various shades of red, brown, and green. While most Asogians are wrinkly with folds across their body, a rare few are covered in fur matching the color of their skin.

History

Not much is known about Asogian history, though within the Forgotten Realms, they leave but a trace that they even exist. They have been conducting research on life-especially flora, though occasionally fauna- for billions of years. It is unknown what they are attempting to do with the research they make, though it is believed some of their abilities are born out of this research.

Society

Asogians, also known as Children of the Green Planet, have no society that exists within the Forgotten Realms, though that isn't to say they don't have their own society. They visit great forests in various planes to collect plants, though they do so only at night. The leader will use a psychic link to cause the heart of each Asogian to glow a bright red, symbolizing that they will leave soon, and must return to their ship. They take plant samples to their own plane, where they conduct research, possibly to further their own understanding of life, which could possibly be their ultimate goal. They avoid confronting citizens of other realms to avoid putting themselves in danger. If an Asogian is in danger, they will either intimidate their hunter, or run using their long arms. They typically do not like to fight, despite their mental capability to.

Asogians are all bonded together. This bond allows them to communicate telepathically at great distances, and share emotions if they wish to. When an Asogian is separated from their race by a great distance for too long, they can slowly die from lack of connection. They can also link to one of another race, though this is both a blessing and a curse. This can be used to feel the same emotions and feelings as those around them, but they can also feel their same illnesses, and can die if linked to someone who is about to pass.

Asogian Traits

Asogians have the following traits:

Ability Score Increase

As an Asogian, you have a greater understand of life and how things work, thanks to endless research conducted by your species. You gain two ability scores in Wisdom, and one in Intelligence.

Age

Agonians have a strange link to life and the forces that make it work. It is unknown if it is innate, or if it was through research that they gained this ability, but Agonians are known to live well past ten million years old, though they commonly die due to research, separation, or are killed/eaten by predators.

Alignment

Asogians are typically neutral, though some lean towards good or evil.

Size

Ignoring their extendable necks, Asogians are typically four feet tall. Your size is small.

Speed

Despite having no legs, Asogians can move at average speeds when using their long arms to run. Your speed is 30.

Language

Asogians speak telepathically with their own. They must learn the languages of other races if they want to communicate with them- speaking broken at first, being able to form full sentences as time goes on. They learn languages rather quickly, however.

Life Bond

Asogians have a strange and amazing ability to link with those around them. All Asogians are linked together by default, but they can choose to link to people of other races if they wish to. This is called a Life Bond.

Choose one person to Life Bond with. When in a Life Bond, the two of you share status conditions and emotions. For example, if one is blessed, the other becomes blessed due to the bond. Alternatively, when one becomes poisoned, so does the other, though you and your bonded have advantages on saves against negative status effects. The Bonded do not share damage. Additionally, the bonded can freely exchange hit points, though this takes an action to do so. You can only exchange 5 hit points per action.

An Asogian can drop a Life Bond with a free action or a reaction.

You cannot form a new Life Bond until you've taken a long rest.

You can bond with non sentient plant life freely. The plants do not affect you, but you effect the plants.

Asogians are bonded with others of their race by default, though it works differently. This bond allows them to communicate telepathically at great distances, and share emotions if they wish to. They do not suffer the same status conditions, and cannot exchange hit points with each other, although when an Asogian is separated from their race by a great distance for too long, they can slowly die from lack of connection.

Healing Touch

Asogians can use the life around them to heal others. Your index finger begins to glow. You can trace along a wound to heal 1d6+WIS hit points, three times per long rest.

Lively Thoughts

You can mildly interact with the environment around you through your connection with life. You know the Thaumaturge cantrip innately.

At level nine, you can use the 5th level spell Telekinesis.
