Changeling
Shaped by dreams and deception, changelings are mysterious beings with the innate ability to alter their appearance at will. According to ancient tales, the first changelings were born from unions between mortal humanoids and doppelgangers—or, in other myths, created by trickster gods to walk unnoticed among mortals and stir the threads of fate.
Changelings have no single homeland. They exist in hidden pockets of society, often living among other races and adopting their customs and appearances to blend in. This fluidity of identity grants them great freedom, but also invites suspicion. Many changelings choose to conceal their nature entirely, living a lifetime under a borrowed face.
The true form of a changeling is often pale-skinned and slender, with smooth, hairless features and blank, silver or white eyes. However, few ever reveal this form unless in trusted company.
Driven by curiosity and self-discovery, changelings are natural infiltrators, artists, diplomats, and spies. Their shapechanging gifts make them invaluable in societies where appearance and perception are power.
Changelings often define themselves by masks, roles, or personas they adopt throughout their lives. Some develop a fluid, ever-shifting sense of self; others hold tightly to a core identity beneath the many faces they wear.

darkvision, shapeshifting, fey ancestry,
As an action, you can transform your appearance and voice. You decide the specifics of your appearance, including your facial features, hair, sex, skin tone, body shape, and apparent age. You can also adjust your height and weight slightly, making yourself appear anywhere from a slender youth to a broad-shouldered warrior — but you must remain Medium size.
You can make yourself appear as a member of another humanoid race you have seen (such as elf, tiefling, dragonborn, or genasi), but you do not gain any racial traits or magical abilities of the chosen form. Your statistics remain the same regardless of your appearance. You cannot use this trait to disguise yourself as a creature of a different type (such as beasts, elementals, undead, or monstrosities), or to imitate non-humanoids.
You retain this form until you use this trait again, until you die, or until you choose to revert to your natural form. You do not revert when unconscious. Your clothing and gear are unaffected by this change.
This ability is visual and physical but does not provide intangibility, special movement, natural weapons, breath weapons, darkvision, spell-like abilities, or resistances of the mimicked form. You may attempt to mimic the voice or speech patterns of individuals you’ve observed closely, at your DM’s discretion.
Darkvision
You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
Elven Lineage
You are part of a lineage that grants you supernatural abilities. Choose a lineage from the Elven Lineages table. You gain the level 1 benefit of that lineage.
When you reach character levels 3 and 5, you learn a higher-level spell, as shown on the table. You always have that spell prepared. You can cast it once without a spell slot, and you regain the ability to cast it in that way when you finish a Long Rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for the spells you cast with this trait (choose the ability when you select the lineage).
| Lineage | Level 1 | Level 3 | Level 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drow | The range of your Darkvision increases to 120 feet. You also know the Dancing Lights cantrip. | Faerie Fire | Darkness |
| High Elf | You know the Prestidigitation cantrip. Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can replace that cantrip with a different cantrip from the Wizard spell list. | Detect Magic | Misty Step |
| Wood Elf | Your Speed increases to 35 feet. You also know the Druidcraft cantrip. | Longstrider | Pass without Trace |
Fey Ancestry
You have Advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the Charmed condition.
Keen Senses
You have proficiency in the Insight, Perception, or Survival skill.
Trance
You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a Long Rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you retain consciousness.
