Homebrew Dhampir (reworked) Species Details

"I was born half human, half vampire. They call me, The Daywalker. I have all their strengths, none of their weaknesses..." Blade II, March 21, 2002.

Back in 2024 I had made this because at that time I didn't know there was already a Dhampir lineage, it's first version was garbage but now I return to this in the middle of August 2025 to revamp this piece of garbage into something I'm actually ok with now that I'm more experienced in playing DND and have had time to learn the mechanics of this website. So here is my revamp of Dhampir:

Dhampir (reworked) Traits

Here is the redesigned traits for Dhampir.

Undead Biology:

Deathless Nature. Due to your Vampiric biology you get the following benefits: You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage. You don’t need to breathe, additionally you can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in an inactive, motionless state, during which you retain consciousness.

Size. You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this species

Age. Dhampir age at the same rate as humans, right up until they hit 25 years of age. At which point their aging slows quite drastically, on average a Dhampir lives to around 1,000 to 1,500 years of age with the oldest known Dhampir, under ideal circumstances, having lived to 2,000 years of age.

Speed. Your walking speed is 35 feet, you also have a climbing speed equal to your movement speed. In addition, at 5th level, you can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free.

Enhanced Physicality. Increase your Strength score by 2 and your Dexterity score by 1. Additionally, at 5th level you are treated as being one size larger when determining grappling or shoving checks and rolls.

Vampiric Bite:

Your fanged bite is a natural weapon, which counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient. You add your Constitution modifier, instead of your Strength modifier, to the attack and damage rolls when you attack with this bite. It deals 1d4 piercing damage + your strength modifier on a hit. While you are missing half or more of your hit points, you have advantage on attack rolls you make with this bite.

Starting at level 5, when you attack with this bite and hit a creature that isn’t a Construct or an Undead, you can empower yourself in one of the following ways of your choice:

  • You regain hit points equal to twice the piercing damage dealt by the bite.
  • You gain a bonus to the next ability check or attack roll you make; the bonus equals the piercing damage dealt by the bite.

You can empower yourself with this bite a number of times equal to your constitution modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Darkvision:

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness as shades of gray.
