Homebrew Yggdralan Species Details

Those who think of other planes at all consider them remote, distant realms, but planar influence affects all of reality. Those born from the Seed of Yggdra, emerge as Yggdralan regardless of parents Elemental alignment. The Universe Tree branches outward toward all her children, compelling them to roam the realms and search for new stars to monitor and cultivate.

The Void, from which the Universe Tree roots itself and spreads influence exists within the edges of reality itself. Those that seek to find her roots, will have to survive the expanse of the cosmos itself. Mortals have dreamed of exploring the expanses of nothingness, yet Yggdralan are born for it. Taking power from the ancient Djinn that blessed the Universe Tree eons ago, these entities possess power unimaginable and a penchant for mischief.

Heirs to Cosmic Power

Yggdralan inherit the ability to shift their form into anything they wish, however traces of the heritage still poke through. They often manifest glowing Will-o-wisps within the strands of hair, a clear indication of their otherworldly nature. They tend to appear humanoid for ease of communication and discretion, as Yggdralan try to stay "Low Profile" due to cosmic interferences following them. Yggdralan can take on any skin tone they wish, though little sparks of starlight tend to leave the body the longer the disguise is maintained.

Yggdralan all hunger to find the Universe Tree, feeling a deep calling from the magic within at all times. Most Yggdralan live as outcasts, driven into exile for their unsettling appearance and strange magic, or assuming leadership of savage humanoids and weird cults in untamed lands. Others gain positions of great influence, especially where elemental beings are revered.

 

 

The Void of the Universe Tree

The Void rests within it's own small plane of interconnected existence, barely reachable by conventional means. The Void itself consists of a blackened landscape that absorbs all light, making it appear entirely empty against the backgrounds of space. This tends to distort the stars within the nearby areas of space, making chromatic colors stretch and bend in physics defying ways. Most whom see the Universe Tree that are not Yggdralan are driven mad by it's magnificence, for it's true nature defied mortal comprehension

 

Those that manage to enter the Void, may find shelter within the Shadows of Serenity. Finding them against the landscape of broken starlight and distorted darkness, is a feat for only the brave of heart
