Homebrew “Shrimpy” Lizard doggo Species Details

Native to strange alien worlds, Lizard Doggos are curious scavengers that form uncanny bonds with other creatures. They are quadrupeds by nature but can awkwardly rise onto hind legs to carry objects or interact with tools. A Doggo’s big, unblinking eyes and rattling tail make them seem otherworldly, but their loyalty is unquestionable once they trust someone.

Many Doggos wander as companions to explorers, drawn by shiny objects and the promise of strange foods. Their keen senses, boundless curiosity, and innate empathy make them surprisingly effective adventurers—if sometimes distractible.

Cute little alien dog

Alien Empathy

You can communicate simple emotions (trust, fear, curiosity, hunger, joy) telepathically with creatures within 30 feet that you can see. This does not share language, but intelligent creatures usually understand your intent.

Shiny Collector

In addition, you can always remember where you’ve hidden or dropped an object, no matter how long ago.

Alien Eyes

You can see in dim and dark light as if it were normal day time

Size Small

Lizard Doggos are about the size of a medium dog, standing 3–4 feet at the shoulder and 5–6 feet long. Your size is Small.

Tail Rattle

As a bonus action, you can use your rattling tail to either distract enemies or lash out in a strike.

  • Rattle (Distraction). Each creature of your choice within 10 feet that can see or hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or have disadvantage on their next attack roll against a creature other than you.
You can use this option five times per short rest.

  • Tail Strike (Weapon). You can use your tail as a natural weapon. It counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient. On a hit, it deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage + your Strength modifier, and the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (same DC as above) or have disadvantage on its next attack roll before the end of its next turn.
