Homebrew 🦊 Fox-Kin Species Details

Appearance. Fox-Kin are smaller and leaner than Wolf-Kin, averaging 5’0”–6’0” in height. Their frames are wiry, with quick reflexes and natural grace. Large, triangular ears catch every sound, while their bushy tails are highly expressive—often ending in contrasting colors. Fur shades vary widely, including red, gold, silver, black, and cream, and their eyes often glow with amber, gold, green, or blue hues.

Culture. Fox-Kin are known for cleverness, humor, and adaptability. They are often playful, mischievous, and unpredictable, thriving as scouts, travelers, or performers. Some cultures treat them as fox-spirits or tricksters, but their true strength lies in loyalty to family and loved ones.

Hybrid Families. Wolf-Kin and Fox-Kin families often intermix. Their children inherit mixed traits—sometimes wolf-like sturdiness, sometimes fox-like agility, and sometimes a perfect balance of both. These hybrids are celebrated as bridges between their peoples.

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age

Fox-Kin mature at the same rate as humans and Wolf-Kin, reaching adulthood in their late teens. They live slightly longer than humans, averaging 100–120 years.

Size

Fox-Kin range between 5 and 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium or Small (you choose when creating your character).

speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You also have a swimming speed of 20 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

You have advantage on Acrobatics checks made to escape grapples or move through tight spaces.

Foxfire

As a bonus action, you can conjure a harmless orb or flame-like light within 15 feet of you. The light sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius and lasts 1 minute.
Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast Faerie Fire with this trait once per long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
