Homebrew Accursed of Aclazotz Species Details

Accursed of Aclazotz are a rare, abhorrent creation that results from followers who waylay the Rite of Redemption for their own means. As punishment for subverting the Legion of Dusk and Church of Dusk, most are subjected to death; however, those rare few in whom Aclazotz sees potential are transformed into something far less revered and far more revolting than a vampire: a bat-like abomination with a bloodlust akin to a beast. These creatures are Aclazotz's most powerful yet most unruly, hence their rarity and the careful implementation.

Accursed of Aclazotz Traits

Those who cheat the Rite of Redemption and seek alternative means risk the ire of Aclazotz, the Great Betrayer. But those rare few, lucky or unlucky enough to catch his attention, are chosen to become his most divine yet monstrous implements.

Darkvision

Accustomed to the darkness of the caves where your kind thrives, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern colours in darkness, only shades of grey.

Echolocation

Using your sonar, you can detect your surroundings without the use of sight, up to a 60-foot radius. You have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks when using your sonar. You can't use your echolocation while deafened or incapacitated.

Keen Hearing

You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing.

Sound Sensitivity

While your keen hearing can be helpful, it is also one of your weaknesses. You are vulnerable to thunder damage, even if deafened.

Bloodthirst

Accursed of Aclazotz have the same hunger as their vampire brethren, yet they suffer more when starved. They must drink blood once a week or gain a point of exhaustion each day they do not feed.

Vampiric Bite

Your fanged bite is a natural weapon, which counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient. You add your Constitution modifier, instead of your Strength modifier, to the attack and damage rolls when you attack with this bite. It deals 1d6 piercing damage on a hit. While you are missing half or more of your hit points, you have advantage on attack rolls you make with this bite.

When you attack with this bite and hit a creature that isn’t a Construct or an Undead, you can empower yourself in one of the following ways of your choice:

  • You regain hit points equal to the piercing damage dealt by the bite.
  • You gain a bonus to the next ability check or attack roll you make; the bonus equals the piercing damage dealt by the bite.

You can empower yourself with this bite a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest
