Homebrew Avari Species Details

Progenitor Race: The Avari are the progenitors of all races Humanoid races they have lifespans of 250 years the different races are derived from different Avari tribes.

Skin Changing: all members of this race can shapeshift at will into an animal, the animal shifted into depends on the tribe the Avari came from.

 

The Many Tribes: There were originally 7 tribes of Avari: The Lizard Tribe, Wolf Tribe, Bear Tribe, Mole Tribe, Eagle Tribe, and Boar tribe. Each tribe could Shapeshift at will into a giant version of the animal their tribes named after. 5 of the 7 tribes changed into different races.  The Mole tribe became more interested in mining and earth magic and in the process shrunk in size and lost there skin changing lore to history becoming the dwarves during this process a further group of the mole tribe became focused on living simple, peaceful and easy lives becoming smaller in size as they delved into burrows becoming Halflings. The Eagle Tribe bound themselves to magic and the will of the gods gaining immortality and a more divine look but losing the ability skin change their imagination. This tribe became known as the elves ever since. The Boar tribe became more enamored with imagination and technology becoming disinterested with the limitations of magic and the free will limitations that being bound to magic created. So the Boar tribe severed their connection with magic losing their capacity to use magic and skin change. The lifespan of this tribe became shorter and became known as Humoons which in the Avari tongue means magic severed. As common tongue developed Humoons changed to Humuns and finally Humans.
