Homebrew Aeormaton Species Details

Although automatons of all kinds were common during the Age of Arcanum, only the Aeorians were able to give them true sentience. Although there was a long period of Aeorian history in which they were just considered servants, many of the Aeormatons of that time worked and fought hard for their freedom and to establish themselves as equals among their creators, and were eventually recognized as citizens. Even then, and until the fall of the city, the issue of whether or not they had souls remained controversial.

Aeormaton Traits

Your Aeormaton has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

One ability score increase by +2, and one other ability score of your choice increases by 1.

Age

1,200 - 1,500 Years Old. The maximum aeormaton lifespan remains a mystery; so far, aeormatons have shown no signs of deterioration due to age. You are immune to magical aging effects.

Size

Your size is Medium, within the normal range of your humanoid base race.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Adaptive Sensors

Your Aeormaton can obtain Darkvision of 60 ft. , causing dim light to appear as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light (only shades of gray). You will also be granted the ability to detect magical auras within 10 ft. (like a mini detect magic)

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and your language of choice.

Aeormaton Creation

At 1st level, choose one of the following options:

  • Reinforced Chassis – Your AC increases by +1 as arcane alloys integrate with your body.
  • Arcane Processor – You can cast spells with perfect memory recall. You can prepare +1 additional spell, as your built-in processor optimizes spell storage.
  • Sentry's Rest – When you take a long rest, you must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.
  • Data Uplink – Gain Proficiency in One Tool

 

Wizard Cantrip

during your creation , a single wizard cantrip was installed into your program . 

First Major Upgrade

  • Spell Matrix Compiler – When you cast a spell using a slot of 1st level or higher, you may “cache” the spell in your processor. Once per long rest, you can re-cast that cached spell without expending a slot.

  • Adaptive Sensors – Darkvision (60 ft.) and the ability to detect magical auras within 10 ft. (like a mini detect magic).

  • Overclock – Once per short rest, you can add your Intelligence modifier again to damage from a spell.
  • Living ShieldWhen an attack is made against a creature within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that attack.

System Integration

  • Parallel Casting Module – When concentrating on a spell, you may also maintain concentration on a 2nd spell of 3rd level or lower. (Save against concentration separately for each.)

  • Reinforced Chassis – Your AC increases by +1 as arcane alloys integrate with your body.

Quantum Backup – If reduced to 0 HP, you can instead drop to 1 HP once per long rest as your systems reboot. Taking you out of commission for 1 round.
