Homebrew Zurode Species Details

The by-product of the creations from a spiteful Diety, infected and changed by the Spore. The Zurok, who originate from underneath the ground within the Astral Plane as ruthless, inhuman hunters, are the Zurode's ancestors, who are infected humanoids of the Spore. Zurode's are thought to have originated from the Spore's escape of the Astral plane. Whether by a traveler who carried a sample to study without knowing its properties or the Diety that started the Zurok spreading the species in the Material Plane for more intelligent beings to worship him, its origins remain heavily obscured.

Rare and unusual, with metallic skin similar to silver and green blood of Zurok as their most defining features. They have flat shoulders with sharp ends, fingernails pointed and ready to dig or stab, and white hair with strands of black that flow down to their shoulders at their maximum height. The older a Zurok grows, the more prominent its sharp features become, their shoulders becoming blade-like and nails sharp as knives, as well as more strands of black hair appear. Scars and old skin appear blackened, dark as coal, but are stronger than silvered skin.

 

Zurode Traits

Creature Type: Humanoid | Size: Small-Medium (about 4-6 feet tall) | Speed: 35 feet walking, 15 feet burrowing, and 5 feet swimming. | As a Zurode, you have the following traits.

Darkvision

Your eyes are naturally able to see in the dark. You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

Multi-Lung Capacity

Your body naturally has stronger and larger lungs, able to hold more oxygen than normal humanoids, while also having 2 smaller chambers that always hold oxygen in case your supply is cut off. You can last for 5 minutes without breathing as long as you inhale deeply beforehand; otherwise, you can last 1 minute without inhaling beforehand.

Zurok Lineage

As a part of the Zurok Lineage, your body already contains the main characteristics and abilities of the Zurok. You have a natural immunity to the Poisoned condition, your unarmed strikes deal an additional 2 damage, you can speak Gith, and you have +1 to Dexterity. You are also able to burrow into any ground that is softer than stone.

Toxin Body

Your body has a unique toxin it produces, harmful to any living thing that's cut by your fingernails or held tightly with your hands. Any creature damaged by an unarmed strike or similar attack made with your bare hands must succeed a Constitution Saving Throw DC 10 + half of your character level (rounded up). On a Failure, they gain 1 level of Toxic.

Beginning at Level 5, you will have the option of Tainted Hands, increasing the levels of Toxic given at the cost of accurately infecting, or Infused Weapon, allowing weapons to inflict 1 level of Toxic.

 


Toxic Condition:


 

For every 2 levels of Toxic, the creature has an additional -1 to all rolls.

For every level of Toxic at the end of a creature's turn, they take 1d4 Necrotic/Poison damage and lose 1 level of Toxic.

At level 4, the creature has it's movement reduced by half.

At level 6, the creature doesn't remove a level of Toxic at the end of it's turn.

At Level 8, the creature can't regain hitpoints and healing removes only 1 level of Toxic.

At Level 10, the creature instantly loses current hitpoints equal to 1/4 of their maximum hitpoints and loses 4 levels of Toxic.

  • While outside of combat, for every 10 seconds, the creature takes 1d4 Necrotic/Poison damage for every level of Toxic and loses a level of Toxic [Even while at level 6 or above].
    • Toxic condition effects still apply outside of combat (-1 to all rolls, can't regain hitpoints, etc...).

 

The Toxic Condition is reduced by 2 levels whenever the creature is healed. Spells or potions that remove the Poisoned condition reduce the Toxic Condition by 4 levels.
