Homebrew worker drone Species Details

Core attributes
  • Intelligence: Worker Drones possess human-level intelligence, unique personalities, and an adaptive AI that allows them to develop emotions and mimic human society.
  • Physiology: As autonomous humanoid robots, they have superhuman durability and can survive extreme temperatures and radiation, including the harsh climate and toxic storms of Copper 9.
  • Power Source: Worker Drones run on oil. Unlike the Murder Drones, they do not seem to have a strict requirement for consuming oil to regulate temperature, but they are still susceptible to being consumed for their fuel.
  • Visor Display: Their emotions and status are shown on a digital visor. This can also display text, emoticons, games like Tetris, and error messages.

Abilities and skills
  • Adaptive Learning: Their adaptive AI allows them to learn new skills by observing and mimicking. For example, Uzi learned combat skills from pirated anime.
  • Building and Crafting: Some Worker Drones are shown to be able to build complex structures and weapons from salvaged materials, such as Khan Doorman's hydraulic doors.
  • Visor Manipulation: Can display text, images, and other visual indicators on their visors for communication or other purposes.

Strengths
  • Human-like Behavior: After humanity's disappearance, their adaptive AI led them to form a human-like society, complete with culture, school, and social dynamics.
  • Versatility: Their design allows them to wear clothing, accessories, and develop unique personas, differentiating themselves from their original factory models.
  • Resilience: They can endure significant physical trauma, but major damage to core components or a virus will kill them.

Weaknesses
  • Vulnerability to Damage: While durable, they are not invincible. Sharp objects, extreme blunt force, and Disassembly Drone weapons are lethal.
  • Programmed Subservience: Originally created to serve humans, they are fundamentally non-aggressive. A Worker Drone's default state is to hide in fear rather than to fight.
  • Susceptibility to Viruses: Their systems can be terminated by viruses like the wdOS_606 used by Disassembly Drones.
  • Absolute Solver Risk: If a Worker Drone reboots after being marked for disassembly, there is a small chance (0.7%) that they will become a Zombie Drone infected with the Absolute Solver program. This grants powerful reality-warping abilities at the risk of losing consciousness and mutating into an Eldritch horror.
  • Magnetism: Strong magnets act as a sedative, paralyzing them and making them unresponsive.
  • Nocturnal Vulnerability: Being active mostly during the day, they are hunted at night by the Disassembly Drones.

Character creation options
When creating a specific Worker Drone, you can customize the following traits:
  • Accessories: Hair, hats, headbands, and jackets derived from human society give them unique style.
  • Eye Color: Most standard Worker Drones have a bright, solid eye color, such as blue, green, or magenta. Unlike Disassembly Drones, their eyes are never yellow unless they are becoming infected with the Absolute Solver.
  • Personality: The adaptive AI means each drone can have a distinct personality, from Uzi's angst to Thad's friendliness.
  • Visor Display: What they show on their visor can reflect their personality or mood.
  • Occupation: Drones can be tailored for specific roles in their colony, such as teachers, architects, or defense force members.
