Homebrew Aruanid Species Details
Homelands
Auranid clans make their homes in the deepest, most secluded parts of the Chultan jungle. While they can be found in a few other isolated forest regions of Faerûn, their largest and most established communities are in Chult. Their settlements are ingeniously hidden, often built high in the rainforest canopy, woven from the immense leaves and vines of ancient trees, or concealed within vast, magically-protected cave networks in the mountains.
Their homes in Chult are often near a natural source of power, such as a dormant volcano or a nexus of magical energy, which they believe is the source of their unique abilities. These settlements are often little more than whispers in the wind, with even the most experienced adventurers rarely catching a glimpse of their treetop villages.
Culture and Society
Auranid culture is intrinsically tied to the primal nature of their jungle home. They live in small, tightly-knit communities, governed by a council of elders who are chosen for their profound wisdom and spiritual connection to the land. Their society is communal, with a strong focus on collective survival and the preservation of their way of life.
Auranids do not worship the nature deities of the jungle; instead, they have a deep, spiritual reverence for the Darkness of Night. They see the night as a sacred time of peace and clarity, when the loud, chaotic world of the sun is silenced. They believe that true wisdom and a connection to magic can only be found in the quiet stillness after dusk. They view creatures of the day with suspicion and a hint of pity, seeing them as slaves to the blinding light.
