Homebrew Demon elf Species Details
Demon elves are a demonic people that were born in the underworld from darkness. They live in places of eternal evil, in the midst of ancient forests where the scent of blood drifts through the air and decaying fragrances waft on the breeze. Demon elves love dark magic, demons, death and blood, and the evil things of the world.
Muscular and Demon Like
With their demonic wings and horns and deep black eyes they bring fear into other races. They are slightly larger than humans on average, ranging from 6 to 8 feet. They are more muscular than humans, weighing 180 to 210 pounds. Males and females are about the same height, while females take on a more slender look
Demon elves’ coloration include red, black, grey, and orange and have white or black hair. Demon elves have no facial and little body hair. They favor elegant clothing in dark colors.
A Timeless Perspective
Demon elves can live well over 1000 years, giving them a broad perspective on events that might trouble the shorter-lived races more deeply. They tend to remain aloof and unfazed by petty happenstance. When pursuing a goal, however, whether adventuring on a mission or learning a new skill or art, demon elves can be focused and relentless. They reply to petty insults with disdain and to serious insults with vengeance.
Like the branches of a young tree, demon elves are flexible in the face of danger. They trust in violence and fear to solve problems quicker. They use bows, dark magic, and swords
Hidden Demonic Realms
Most demon elves dwell in demonic forests corrupt with evil that are attached to the underworld. Demon elves hunt game, slaughter, and pillage villages, and their skill and magic allow them to support themselves without much. Their contact with outsiders is usually limited.
Demon elves encountered outside their own lands are commonly searching for ancient relics, new spells a dark magic, and villagers to pillage
Exploration and Adventure
Demon elves take up adventuring out of bloodlust. Since they are so long-lived, they can enjoy centuries of exploration, discovery, and killing. They dislike the pace of human society, which is regimented from day to day but constantly changing over decades. Demon elves also enjoy exercising their martial prowess or gaining greater magical power, and adventuring allows them to do so.
Demon Elf Names
Demon elves are considered children until they declare themselves adults, some time after the hundredth birthday, and before this period they are called by child names.
On declaring adulthood, a demon elf selects an adult name, although those who knew him or her as a youngster might continue to use the child name. Each demon elf’s adult name is a unique creation, though it might reflect the names of respected individuals or other family members. Little distinction exists between male names and female names; the groupings here reflect only general tendencies. In addition, every demon elf bears a family name, typically a combination of other Elvish words. Some demon elves traveling among humans translate their family names into Common, but others retain the Elvish version.

Subrace
Ancient divides among the elven people resulted in three main subraces: high elves, wood elves, and dark elves, who are commonly called drow. Choose one of the two subraces presented below or one from another source. In some worlds, these subraces are divided still further (such as the sun elves and moon elves of the Forgotten Realms), so if you wish, you can choose a narrower subrace.
Demon elf Traits
Your elf character has a variety of natural abilities, the result of thousands of years of elven refinement.Age
Although demon elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. A demon elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 1000 years old.
Size
Demon elves range from 6 to over 8 feet tall and have muscular builds. Your size is Large.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Your base flying speed is 30 feet.
Ability score increase
Your Strength score is increased by 2.
Darkvision
You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Senses
You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Fey Ancestry
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Trance
Demon elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish, and Demonic symbols. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires. Demonic symbols are mostly found on ancient relics or in ancient ruins

Posted Jan 30, 2021There's potential in this, but there's a few problems.
For one, being a large race can be a big issue for a lot of games. It makes it so you'll struggle to fit in maps with normal sized doorways, or caves with smaller entrances. I would recommend making them medium, but giving them the powerful build ability.
Second...Flight, I get how demons usually can fly, but you'd be surprised just how game-breaking flight can be. More than half the monsters in 5e get invalidated by it. If you locked it to a 1/long rest ability, like the aasimar, it'd probably be fine. But as a passive it's just far too good.
