Homebrew Deathless Species Details

Deathless. Undead. Eternal. When the worship of Jergal passed out of the memory of the living, it was maintained among the ranks of his faithful deathless clerics. This species can only be used if you are playing as a Cleric of the Forgotten One.

The Toll of Ages

The priests of Jergal are deathless, as is he. But to survive the ages demands a cost of the mortal body that the god himself does not have to pay. Your Constitution and Strength scores start at 5 and cannot be increased by any permanent effect aside from divine intervention, DM intervention, the Wish spell, a Deck of Many Things, or similar powers. This species must select the Cleric class, the Cleric of the Forgotten One subclass, and the World Enough And Time background.

Undead Vitality. You don’t need to breathe, and you don’t sleep the way most creatures do. Instead, you enter a dormant state that resembles death, remaining semiconscious, for 6 hours a day. While dormant, you have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Deathless Traits

The deathless serve only the God of Death.

Toll of Ages

Your Strength and Constitution must start at 5 and cannot be permanently increased except by divine intervention or similar magic.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and five extra languages of your choice.

Deathless Knowledge

Your Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence scores are increased by 1. You have the ability to cast Speak With Dead at will without expending a spell slot.
