Homebrew Abhorrent Vampire Species Details
Creature Type: Humanoid, Undead
Size: Medium
Speed: 25 feet
A twisted amalgam of Ghoul and Vampire. A mutation in an ancient Vampire caused his body to rot and wither during his transformation, creating a lineage of half-dead Vampires, known as Abhorrents, or the Abhorrent Vampires. Rejected by traditional royal Vampire society, the Abhorrents are solitary monsters, living alone deep in forests, preying on the wildlife using their barbaric biology. They live in complete isolation, as even they view themselves as foul mistakes, they are unkind to visitors. Those who have had the misfortune of encountering an Abhorrent have suffered grizzly, cruel deaths, or have triumphed in victory. They let none escape them, if you encounter one, it's you or them.
Age
Your aging slows to a halt. You are unable to age any further than the exact age you were when you became a vampire.
Vampiric Weaknesses
You have the following flaws:
Forbiddance: You can't enter a residence without an invitation from one of the occupants. A sign on the outside of a building saying something like "open for business" will also allow you to enter a building.
Holy Forbiddance: You are deemed and unholy and evil presence. Whenever you enter a sacred or holy place (specified by your DM), you take 1d4 +1 Necrotic damage. For every level past 1, take an additional damage.
Sunlight Sensitivity: Unlike regular Vampires, you've grown accustomed to sunlight, but it still irritates and slows you. Whenever you roll for initiative while in direct sunlight, subtract your roll by 1. In addition, gain disadvantage to any speed rolls while in direct sunlight.
Weakness to Running Water. You take acid damage equal to twice your level if you end your turn in running water. This acid damage ignores resistance and immunity.
Vampiric Strengths
Orlok's Blessing: Increase your strength and speed bonuses by 1.
Abhorrent Fangs
The Abhorrent's fangs are barbaric and gruesome. Twisted stacks of sharp fangs, they use these fangs to devour the flesh of any who stand in their way. Instead of an Unarmed Strike, you may instead use Abhorrent Fangs. Deal 1d4 + strength piercing damage.
Bite With Intent
Once per long rest, you may use Bite With Intent in place of Abhorrent Fangs. The creature you are biting must either be willing, grappled, restrained, or incapacitated. An unwilling creature must make a speed saving throw, the DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your speed modifier. On an unsuccessful save, the target takes 2d6 necrotic damage. On a successful save, they take half as much. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. The Abhorrent then heals the amount of damage taken by the target.
If this attack kills the target, and they are subsequently buried, the next night, they will rise from the ground, becoming an Abhorrent Vampire, retaining all the abilities of their previous race, and gaining all the abilities of the Abhorrent Vampire.
Vampiric Regeneration: After combat, regenerate 3 hit points.
